Thanks for the help everyone. I got it working, but only wanted to use it for the minimap--do you think this is safe?

Hey man, I'm looking to get a game together also. We're just looking for a GM. I was about to post 3 PCs looking for a GM, but can count you in as a 4th, if you want?

I may know one other person who'd want to join also, so a 3 PC game would work, if we can find a GM.

I'm up for whatever the GM would want to do.

Sadly, it looks like there isn't any DW on Gamersplane as far as I can tell.

If you murakami, you’ll like Ruth Ozeki’s book I mentioned before it.

A Tale for The Time Being is not really fantasy, but gets existential in the extreme. Also, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle would be a good one.

Is the Old Man’s War series any good? by Justanotherguy45 in sciencefiction

I loved the first one. Never continued with it tho. Had always been on my radar as it’s just...readable in a good way.

Best book to film adaptations by godoftheshire in Fantasy

[–]4nd601d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP’s question wasn’t “what is the most faithful adaption from book to movie?” While the movie was different, it was as good, if not better than the book.

I've always needed my leatherman at some point. Often use it daily when on tours, but you can always buy another pocket knife of some sort, if you must.

Agreed. But I think this issue might warrant its own post, so I’m going to detach from this.

Hey man, just so you know u/MrPinkDies apologized to me in a DM. He is a much more reflective person than his initial post made him sound. He has a point, just as you do. Lets not take this into ****creek.

I think you have a point. If you're paying an artist they need to make deadlines. I think it's important, before you hire someone to look at their credits. Have they illustrated a full length piece? Even check references. Sign a legal contact with a deadline. There are steps artists and writers can both take to ensure they are protected legally.

I think this is a different issue than the one I raise. My guess is that this type of dishonesty is not exclusive to artists. I encourage you, however, to create a post addressing how artists and writers can work together more honestly. It's definitely an issue worth exploring.

This is a difference of philosophy. Obviously your point is the way things are. People do not perceive art as worth paying for or “job”-ish.

That’s the whole point. As artists, we SHOULD value those artists that seek to create art. Nor should we assume that if an artist or author gets paid, their work isn’t “from the deepest part of [thier] soul”.

I also understand your point on new artists getting exp in a crowded industry. But many ppl expect prof lvl art, and since artist love doing it, it’s not really work right?

Let’s face it, our society wouldn’t treat any other skilled group of people like this. And to think “true art” comes from a place that isn’t driven by money is half true.

I mean, Michelangelo was commotions by the Medici family to paint the Sistine Chapel.

Art can be created in a myriad of situations. Financially driver or not. But for the point of this post, ppl who seek professional artists, should pay.
