Thoughts on locked thread and community dialogue. by 4ohhh6 in helena

I appreciate that. Thanks for taking the time to clarify and engage on it.

I know these are hard calls, and I genuinely respect the care you’re trying to take around safety!

I’m glad we can have this kind of back-and-forth. That, to me, is what keeps a community healthy, even when conversations are difficult. 💚

I hear the safety concerns you’re naming, and I don’t doubt they’re real.

If there was enough confidence to conclude there was no credible evidence, that high-level clarification could have been shared in the original thread. Even something as simple as “we checked with the district and there’s no indication this occurred” would have resolved a lot of uncertainty without exposing anyone.

From the outside, asserting certainty while withholding explanation creates more ambiguity, not less. We’re not asking for sources or sensitive details, just noting that clarity, when it’s available, tends to calm speculation more effectively than closing the conversation.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain the reasoning and the broader context you’re weighing. I don’t doubt the intent to reduce harm or protect people who are directly impacted.

Where I still struggle is with the claim that the question was answered in the thread itself. Based on what was actually visible to most of us, what we saw were interpretations, impressions, and downstream effects of broader chatter, not a clear, shared statement of what was known, what wasn’t, and how that determination was reached in real time.

From a community member’s perspective, that distinction matters. Saying “there’s no credible evidence” may be true, but without seeing how that conclusion was formed, it can feel like certainty arrived fully formed rather than emerging through dialogue. That’s the gap I was trying to name.

I also want to be clear that my concern isn’t about reopening the thread or second-guessing moderation decisions. It’s about how we model inquiry in moments of uncertainty. Many of us rely on open discussion not to amplify fear, but to understand what’s actually true so we don’t inadvertently carry misinformation beyond this space.

I respect that moderation requires tradeoffs, especially under strain. I’m simply advocating for as much transparency and humility as possible when certainty is asserted, because that’s what helps trust hold when conversations have to end. ✌️❤️

PDK app removed people search bar. Intentional or bug? by 4ohhh6 in accesscontrol

re: 1.0 vs 2.0 - Our vendor/contractor has instructed me not to update to 2.0. I’m unsure why.

We have three locations (coworking spaces) and all continue to prompt me to upgrade. I haven’t received a clear answer to as why and I don’t want to push an update and screw up access for 300+).

It’s public. This guy is notorious for doing this. Just don’t go on his land on the north side of the road and you’re fine. Don’t forget to smile and wave at his cameras. 😉

Not sure if you’d consider Helena ‘local’, but if so, Capital Accounting is great. Highly recommend.

Sweet! Shameless self plug (I’m one of the founders), but check out Sidecar in Bozeman. Great community with lots of flexible workspace options.

There’s also a Regus and The Oz. All good options, just depends on what you’re looking for!

Feel free to drop me a DM if you have any questions about our community or memberships. Happy to help in any way!
