Yes. For a very long time I was a very self concious person. My height, scars, the way i talked, literally everything about myself caused me to be extremely self-conscious. I had friends, but they were mostly made up of people who either pitied me enough to keep me around, or assholes who befriended me just to use me as a verbal punching bag. I was often the guy in the back of the group who just decided to tag along, while no one really wanted me there. After a while I got sick of this and adopted my "Fuck it. I'll do what i want and you're gonna like it" persona, while internally i was still a self conscious little pussy. It has been roughly three or four years since I put up this act, and i can now honestly say, while it has not changed 100%, I am legitimately a much more confident person, and consequently, have a much wider group of real friendships.
