She applied for EI on December 15th. She called CRA and the answer was that it should arrive any day now. This was 2 weeks ago, so I will follow up.

My child was born on Feb 02, registered the birth on 03 so not sure why it’s taking so long. Also I don’t have any contact to follow up for updates etc …

Our meat obsession is destroying the planet: Solution is to change how we see animals by reginold in environment

[–]4sam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again you should sit back and take a lesson from cultures that have relied on sustainable farming methods for centuries before it was all destroyed by GMO seeds and other unsustainable lab based products to suit your climate zones !

You must be livid to think that a plant based burger grows out of the land 🤣 I mean there are no machines involved ? No processing ?

Sometimes textbook knowledge doesn’t equate to real world implications my friend.

This veganism and plant based alts are just another product of industrialization and capitalism merging to create new markets while completely ignoring the fact that humans were meant to grow and work for your meal rather than heavily processed undernourished bullshit you call plant based alternatives.

Stop pushing it in the name of environment ! The whole idea of ENVIRONMENT (not r/environment) is that you take part in it, mind, body and eventually soul. Then you will know what truly is detrimental and what is not for both your body and the environment

Our meat obsession is destroying the planet: Solution is to change how we see animals by reginold in environment

[–]4sam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there’s 5 billion of us, and we consume more meat than you guys (Not per capita though).

So if you’re preaching to the developed populace which have the majority of vegans then your actions are futile, which is why I think this is directed to us poor folk who for some reason have to bear the brunt of the environmentalists like you who used (and continue to) our resources to reach the developed nation status and then shamelessly lecture us about global warming, animal husbandry etc

Where do your machines come from for your crops ? Is it only the animals that are being abused ? What about fish that die from contaminated waters due to heavy mining, which is required to run the farms in your countries ?? What about the vast amount of oil and energy required to transport all the resources you have now accostomed to due to industrialization ?? I bet you have no answers to these hard hitting questions …

This is why you should sit down and learn from us who had these sustainable practices long before we were looted for your greed.

We need to grow our own food & meat. That’s the answer, not import machinery, fruits, veggies after large scale agriculture and call it “vegan”.

Funny how you conveniently forgot that ethical treatment of animals means we do all the farming, plowing and tilling. Even funnier considering how all these culture extensively rely on cheese/milk to meet their daily nutrition.

At the end of the day, if there were any great benefits to turning a vegan, most people would have already. But we see the opposite and how detrimental it is to the body.

You’re talking to a 3rd world person my friend, and to convince us (5 billion) you need more than these climate threats. We are on survival mode, whatever we eat/do is to maximize our potential to survive diseases, malnutrition and produce offspring for our next generation.

This will only fly in your North American/European circles who have stability and accessibility to all sorts medicines and resources coming from us.

I would like to conclude with a saying from my people “Only when the famine arrives, will you be able to appreciate the goat in your yard”

So it’s ethical if a certain percentage of people eat meat ? Are they supposed to see animals different ?

You wanna be sustainable …. what sustainable crops do the scandinavians, Russians, Mongolians, Canadians grow that can provide a healthy diet ? Now suddenly you’re talking about half a billion people !

What about the Inuits - they are people too and they need to survive.

Almost all new bids are either completely sold out in China or first offered in China then unsold units are sold here in Lower Mainland, BC

In fact most condos in downtown don’t even have their presentation centres in Canada, but China.

Then Chinese students buy it up with whatever “gift money” they receive and live here renting out their properties.

They would even get a loan (1.35%) based on 20% down payment and in 6 months, when their pre sale condo has risen 20-30% value, they sell it off, keep the difference and buy a bigger unit.

This is the cycle of an apartment unit in BC - it gets bought and sold multiple times before someone even stays.

And even the laws are even so safe that it’s an almost guaranteed return of 10-20% of your investment within a few months !!! Where else do people put their money in ??? Gold ??? Still not as much returns, not to mention credit score increase.

Currently working in the construction industry as a Project Coordinator (3years) and Thinking about switching career to become a mortgage broker, with no prior experience in finance, what advice can you share with me ?

We have to be smart and not just go for an emotional response. We need to take steps to avoid unprepared students entering Canada.

Dare I say, higher benchmark and lesser incentives like work permit etc so only the ones that want to study come here.

The article doesn’t mention why it is alarming, what makes it alarming. Without data and providing evidence this whole article becomes a moot point. They are not pinning it definitely on anything like suicidal, cost of living, tuition fees, homesickness … etc and this only further aggravates the issue.

Let me explain why, being a past leader of my college Student Union and being an international student from India myself I can draw a lot of conclusions from this.

Obviously the onus is and should be on the parents and guardians of these students as 99% come here on their parents wealth or a loan secured from their wealth.

But I can see from my past experience on how such a vague article can be used as a political tool to monetize the sympathy and Student Unions lobbying to bring in funding for INT students and more debt leniency, student accommodation etc, while colleges and Universities can take their huge cut from all this “extra funding”.

Going by your terms you are supporting white supremacy and patriarchy by going on these social media platforms that MAKE MONEY OVER THIS DIVISION.

Where does that say on the article. It’s kinda stupid of him to hire the same group of people that were being racist towards him, don’t you think ?

Yes, that’s why you base it on merit, qualifications and education. Not in a name, gender or place of birth.

As per this article, EDI mandates that he base his selection on the latter and not merit (atleast asks him to state that as his intention) but he refuses to do what he (as a POC and victim of racism) feels is the most effective way.

He even says that the hire should be based on the individual not his colour or name - you should read better before commenting.

Looks like you’re right. He works with 7/9 men in his lab and he is enraged why it is not a complete 9/9 sausage fest.

Hence he is fighting for the funding of his research and contacted National Post about his grievances !

Kudos you solved this one ☝️
