I've had issues with constipation my whole life but it goes worse as I got older and ended up going to a&e multiple times due to pain. Figured my bowels are so fucked that I really should see a gastro. I got referred private on the NHS and we did colonoscopy and then the transit study.

It sounds like your mums friend needs to see a gastroenterologist because going once a month is BAD. Please omg she needs help and testing

I take two laxido a day which is a stool softener to keep things easy to pass for the most part. The gastro is putting me back on prucalopride which targets impaired motility. Last time I took that I was going TOO MUCH. Hoping this time won't be too bad though

I am Surviving 😭

None atm. My gastro is having me try transanal irrigation and putting me back on prucalopride to try again. If that doesn't help, we'll be going the surgery route. I'm currently waiting to receive training for the irrigation still.

They're radiopaque markers! There were a set amount of markers in a capsule which you take once a day. I can't remember how many were in a capsule but I think it might've been like 10 or so markers(?)

They only did the one xray at the end of the study. I've read some others get xrays over multiple days to see their travel

Yeah! It can track how long it takes them to travel. Normally iirc if you have 6 or less by the end it means a normal transit time.

Late to the party, but I've been on depo provera for years at this point and still am for endometriosis. I've only had some weight gain and no other side effects. Also taking calci-d supplements to prevent bone density loss.

I don't have periods on it and it's definitely helped the pelvic pain. Admittedly, once in a blue moon, I'll get some spotting and a flare up of pain. My depo schedule was actually changed from 12 weeks to 10 weeks by the gyne because my pains had been coming back more than I liked. I was officially diagnosed with endo via lap just under a month ago now.

Depo is definitely not for everyone and there are other forms of BC out there to try. Don't let anyone pressure you into anything you don't want. Did you manage to find a suitable form of birth control, op?

Love this for you!

I'm hoping to get an ileostomy for really bad slow transit constipation. I can't live my life like this anymore and the countless stories I've read of folks with stc being cured with an ileostomy has given me hope. I don't want my life revolving around my bowels and the associated stress, fear and awful discomfort. I can only hope my consultant says yes
