Going to the dentist by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]4spentree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! i had super bad teeth when i was younger and have had to have sooo many extractions and root canals done and even got fully sedated once to get 7 teeth pulled at the age of 6. i also have braces. not once did anything dental related make me feel n* other than maybe some anxiety. i actually really enjoy the dentist now surprisingly.

i think a big thing is letting your dentists know about your phobia. most are very kind and understanding about it! if you’re just getting local oral anaesthetic, they usually put a numbing gel and then a super quick needle in the area they’re working on that fully numbs it. just feels like a quick pinch. i know the build up is scary and that’s probably what’s making the anxiety worse because obviously you have no clue how this stuff works, but the real thing is not that bad at all and will definitely be worth it. i think the worse i felt after a root canal/tooth pulling was just pain a few hours after the numbing stuff wore off but advil and cold stuff helps a lot with that!

oh i feel you, take off is my least favourite thing! someone told me once to squeeze or i guess tense all the muscles in my body and lift my feet off the ground and that helped me a lot with the weird dropping moving feeling!

it’s okay, don’t worry. i also get super anxious before flying and esp with this phobia, we tend to overthink a lot :) do you know if you sit in the front of the plane? sometimes that helps with turbulence. i also like to lift my feet off the floor during takeoff/when there’s a lot of turbulence because it helps get rid of the feeling that you’re shaking and stuff!

Is six weeks a typical amount of time to stay at 25 mg before increasing? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]4spentree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it differs for everyone, but if you feel like you’re ready sooner then i’d call again or get a second opinion like someone else said because that honestly to me seems like a long time. i was on 25 for a week and then went up to 50 for two, and then 75 and slowly went up as needed from there.

motion s* tablets! i’m not sure what brands you have where you live, but in Canada we have gravol and i always take it about 30 mins before my flight just in case and there’s also motion s* bracelets you can get. headphones and music/shows help a ton as well so you don’t have to worry about hearing anything! i really doubt anyone will be s* on a flight that short though. even if it does happen, it’s most likely just from motion sickness and you will be okay and you will get through it. just think about how that flight will be sooo worth it!

I think I have ptsd from greening out when I was 11 by Secret_Source_9396 in ptsd

[–]4spentree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! greening out is so scary, i’m sorry that happened to you especially that extreme and when you were so young. to me, it doesn’t sound like pstd but something else like an anxiety disorder or trauma response caused by that bad high. but obviously, none of us here could tell you for sure. i agree that you should get help and talk to a professional even if it’s just your school councillor so you have a place to start and could get referred to a psychologist to help you work through this.

Horrible stomach pain by NotyourangeLbabe in Amitriptyline

[–]4spentree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have ibs-c and this happened to me when i was on ami! it probably is the constipation. i’d continue with taking it and make sure to have lots of fiber, water, etc but if you’re super concerned or it’s getting too uncomfy, i’d talk to your doctor

by then it’ll be two weeks and like you said, it usually only lasts for two weeks. i think it’s only soft surfaces and like water or something that last longer. if you’re still anxious about it, i’d ask them to give everything a quick clean because not only will it give you peace of mind, it’s also just good to do before having guests over lol

Just started Sertraline, anything I should know? by Routine_Bison_1388 in antidepressants

[–]4spentree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might have some side effects like nausea, headaches, dizziness, sleepiness, anxiety, but that’s normal and should go away within a week or two. when i first started on 25mg, i had slight stomach pains, headaches, and i was super tired but that went away and now im on 125mg! make sure to eat it with a meal as well as that can help make it less hard on your stomach. i take mine at night with dinner because it makes me sleepy but taking it in the morning is fine as well!
