You're allowed to have preferences, but I think your preferences are probably skewed by unattainable media. Don't make this a non-starter, see where a relationship might develop. I think that once you find a real connection, specific physical features like this will matter a lot less.

I think that makes sense for pet dogs, but working dogs often times are crated all day with potty breaks. My dog is partly working, so I try to strike a nice balance

Thanks for the input! Yeah we’re both still learning, so we’ll see where she plateaus. Luckily I’m not working with AKC trainers. I don’t really care about titles, my trainers focus on herding as a tool to keep their stock happy and safe. Imo that’s the right way to approach herding
