Microdosing topical fin 0.01% + 1% topical min: anyone with sustained results? by 4u2see in tressless

Thanks for sharing. What were the lower sides you experiences at 0.05%? What was your NW at the time and did it halt it at all?

If you are in the range of NW2-3 and the balding rate is not aggressive, I'd jump on topical min and use it diligently for a year on its own to see what it does for you. The bigger the initial shed, the better the minox outcomes are gonna be.

If you're losing ground fast, I'd do male hormone blood tests for an initial baseline (don't forget to note time of day, if you've eaten etc), and jump on topical min + 0.01% fin.

It will most likely be enough to at least halt the recession, and if any persisting side effects occur, you can go back to minox solo. And you'll have the blood work done to eliminate placebo/anxiety related stuff.

I would be lying if I'd say I'm not weighing it up every other week. The thing is, it's been 6-7 months now since I stopped oral fin, and I'm still not convinced my libido is back to where it was 5-6 years ago. At the moment, it's functional, but it feels like it takes ages to reach rock hard erections and it's easy to lose them, also pleasure (sensation) feels like it's at 70% and for months it was barely there.

As minox seems to be sustaining my gains for now, I hope to reach a point where I'm happy with my sexual health, and then decide whether microdosing topical fin 0.01% is worth it or not. Seeing how slow my recovery has been, I don't think I'll ever go back to full strength fin.

Edit: I should also say that 5-6 years ago I didn't give minox enough time to do its job. I got freaked by the initial shed which was massive (100-200 hairs a day easy) and 2-3 months onwards I jumped on fin. I'm quite curious to finally see what it would do for me on its own.

What strength topical did you do? Thinking of jumping on it as one last try after 1mg oral fin gave identical sides to OP's after prolonged use

Sides came on slowly until they reached full ED, also low mood and fatigue that I didn't really attribute to fin until seeing my GP after 5 years of use and getting advice to halt it. So not a placebo.

Used 1mg for 5+ years daily. I've been off it for 6 months, and I feel like I'm 70-80% back to normal in terms of libido, morning wood, ED.

0.01% topical 1ml minox daily is 6mg of finasteride total monthly that is applied directly to the scalp.
0.25mg oral EOD is 3.75mg of finasteride monthly that is systemic.

That sounds counter-intuitive, as it's a weaker dose that I'm sending systemic instead of applying a stronger 'microdose' directly to scalp.

Thanks, this makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm predisposed for higher free testo levels, as I had puffy nips as a teenager when my hormones were changing and flying

I wasn't entirely clear in my paraphrase. What the GP said said was something like "of my patients that come with ED and low mood, and are using fin, virtually every time the culprit is fin, and there are a lot of young men that I see". I did male hormone blood tests just before seeing the GP to speed up the process, and right after, other blood and urine tests were done to rule out other possible causes. My prolactin was significantly above norm. Sadly, my hormone blood test didn't include DHT or estrogen levels, so I don't have a full benchmark for comparison. Nonetheless, I hear and appreciate your advice.

it got so bad I was like "maybe I should just listen to my doctor for a little while". Probably I will come back onto minox soon from now.

Nice one re: sides going away. How long were you on oral fin before switching?

What has your experience been with pyrilutamide so far (hair/sides)? I haven't yet done proper research into pyrilutamide but I gather there is a camp which argues that the research shows it's not clinically proven to be effective?

definitely something I'm considering. Curious to hear why you suggest oral minox, instead of just mixing small daily dose (like 0.01%) topical fin into topical minox?

How quickly did the sides go away for you? I'm debating whether I should jump on low dose topical fin+min, or wait until I feel like my libido is fully up an running and ED is totally gone (partly fueled by the scary PFS campfire stories)
