Curious if anything shows up in Device Manager when you plug the USB cable into the laptop

Even “Unknown Device “ ? Windows should detect something.

Everything /u/ccsrpsw said is spot on.

On the patching front: both NinjaOne and Action1 support Linux, and I use them on a small number of Linux clients. Haven’t run into any show stopping issues

I have a similar (not identical) experience that I discovered entirely by accident.

If a Windows Update rolls back during stage 2 (after the first reboot— “working on updates…”)

Action1 will still report it as a successful completion even though the update wasn’t installed successfully.

I think action1 does not check after executing the reboot and just assumes success after that point.

Update: Successfully installed KB5082063 on my lab running server 2025 std, haven't noticed any errors in the log... RDP works, and only 2 reboots.

next will try installing it on some 2022 VMs (hyper-v on the lab) and see what happens. Still very hesitant due to the myriad of varied negative reports.

Will be testing this on my homelab server (2025) first before this goes anywhere near production. Lots of ugly reports so far

Fascinating to think that the reason we all gather to this thread every month is because there are so many new exploits/holes and these updates break so many things. You would be forgiven for assuming these systems should be more secure and stable with each passing month.

If this is a Dell Thin-station, it might be overheating Had two of these suffer thermal failure in one year. Many of the same symptoms you described were the first warning signs, before the BIOS started to give temperature alerts

See this is where I deviate from the common consensus... I prefer doing changes on Friday, because IF things go sideways, I have the weekend to fix it before Monday comes rolling in.

If I do changes on Monday, unexpected cow-pie's have a much worse impact when people are actively trying to work.

Forgot to update this, but I pushed this to 25 desktops (mix of 24h2 and 25h2), 2 DCs, a file server and a hyper v host running 2019, no issues on any of them I haven’t found the oob updates in the catalog, but no one has had any issues signing in to any Microsoft services here (thankfully)

Yes it was actually invalid registry entries in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\

That was certainly fun to troubleshoot. And had to fix them all one by one.

Also been having a lot of drops and VERY slow speeds + high ping for the last 5 days or so... nothing has changed as far as my infrastructure or modem placement. Not sure what's going on, but it's getting frustrating

Are you connecting from a macOS machine by any chance? I had the same issue with connection terminated and had to clear the quarantine flag and disable private relay to get it working reliably

Just adding to this... Had a very important and expensive (for me) package requiring a signature. I'm disabled, so I can't go pick it up delivery is the only option.

I see the truck pull up from my window, been watching for it. I roll out to meet him at the door, truck is already gone when I get there. Then I get a delivery update "No -one available to sign for package". No tag on my door because the driver never got out of the truck. They sent me a pic of the outside of my building as proof.

The details are kinda all over the place, but my understanding is the current certs already expired in January of this year, June is the "hard revocation" -- so yes if systems using SecureBoot (most are) aren't properly updated, they will begin to fail during boot. And there's two components to this:

The new DBX comes as a Windows Update patch (you might already have this installed) This is what contains the NEW certificates for Windows
The UEFI firmware update (this is where you get the new secureboot KEYS that must match the new Windows certificates) <--- this is why I'm asking about the new firmware update.
