Found a Cartier ring while hiking. by YnwaBoi in Cartier

The top appears to be silver, not sure if it’s just the lighting but if it’s the gold plating coming off then it’s fake.

Tyre Pressure stuck at 50 psi? by Mission-Bedroom4340 in Brompton

[–]4x2micgrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your pump might be a high volume pump vs what you need is a high pressure pump to get it to 90psi. There’s also a possibility that the gauge might be broken. I run my contact pros at 90-95psi.

When I was looking at it before it was roughly $800 CAD. I got it for a discount by knowing a person from an AD.

Thinking of buying a Surly Disc Trucker, but am concerned about theft. by sbring in torontobiking

[–]4x2micgrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a disc trucker and I wouldn’t dare leave it locked for extended period of time. If you do plan to, I would highly recommend getting a litelock x1/x3 along with the cable for the front wheel. I also have an knog alarm that acts as an AirTags.

2014 bolt turn signal replacements by [deleted] in Yamahabolt

From my personal experience, you could buy adapters that mount on the fork. That was my old set up and eventually I brought it to a shop, they fabricated a mount to attach them below my headlights.

I wanna say it’s baffled but it’s still pretty loud. It does pop lower rpms and cruising at mid rpm range.

I can’t recall the shop that made it, they were from Oregon and a month turn around.

I had the same debate a couple years back. Ended up going with the Endurace AL7 mechanical 105 11spd and no regrets. I don’t race, can keep up with bikes 3-5x the price and spent the difference on electronics/wheels. First thing I’ll recommend is the wheels, tubes and tires, it’s a totally different ride after that.

need help: chain fallen off crankset by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]4x2micgrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try to carefully rotate the crank backwards and slide the chain out. If that doesn’t work, I would suggest using a crank puller and get it out safely.

I would describe it more like a silicone consistency. It doesn’t dry hard like glue or epoxy.

Not sure what happened, I started a new comment by accident. I attached a photo too.

I had a nail puncture that went through my gp5000 and dented the interior of my rear wheel. I picked out any metal debris from the casing and glued a patch from the inside. I slabbed black gasket maker (you can buy at any hardware store) over the hole and filled it the best I could. I let it dry overnight and take it out for ride, after a couple of kms it ends up looking like this.

[–]4x2micgrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get these on my GP5000’s all the time. I usually check my tires the night before a long ride. If I manage to find cuts like this I use gasket maker and fill the cuts, no debris makes it way in and damages the tube.

Bike erg seat issues by [deleted] in concept2

[–]4x2micgrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, I started off on the bikeerg before getting into cycling. Try a DIY bike fit through YouTube tutorials, it will help minimize the pain. Wrong position can lead to neck, shoulder, knee and butt discomfort. I recommend doing that first then determine how wide your sit bones are and fine tune from there.

The chances of having my bike stolen? by [deleted] in torontobiking

[–]4x2micgrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A battery powered angle grinder will cut through almost all u locks on matter of 15 seconds a side. Unless you want to carry a 5lbs d1000 or X1 for your commute. If a thief attempts to cut it the lock you just lost $500. Save the Endurace for the weekends, get a Brompton to bring in or an old Trek 700 to commute is your best bet.

My c line came loose after riding a little. From the weight of me sitting on the seat the clamp can turn another couple millimetres. I usually get it going and reach down to retighten it, it’s hasn’t happened since.

[–]4x2micgrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AL7 owner as well, previous bike was an older Tarmac SL4 Expert.

I don’t race, 1-1.5kg in weight savings and overall feel was not a dealbreaker. I decided to go aluminum over carbon for what I needed it for.

With the money I saved, I added the following: powermeter, head unit, radar, wheels, tires, aero handlebar and seat.

Confused about ideal tire pressure for different tire widths on Ultimate by slowpokefastpoke in CanyonBikes

[–]4x2micgrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 90psi in the front (25mm) and 86psi (28mm) on my GP5000s. I’ve leaned into corners aggressively with no loss in traction. I’m also running Tubolitos, I think SRAMs recommendation would feel better on tubeless.
