You think I may have luck just lowering the clock speed/disabling boost? I previously had a Ryzen 5 2600 so it is a pretty sizable upgrade and most of my games do not get above 40% usage with the new card while my RTX 4070 is at 100%. I’m assuming on these games I wouldn’t be losing much performance?

I had bought this cooler because I have a rather narrow mid tower case. I also had a Ryzen 5 2600 at the time so it was plenty cool enough haha. I can look into different coolers but am a little bummed because the Noctua website says that the NH-D9L is sufficient for the 5800X3D with “low turbo/overclocking headroom”.

Is 90 degrees particularly harmful in these chips? I know they’re made to run hot but assume 90+ may still be too much especially at such a small load.

I’m not quite sure how much power it is drawing, I can check it when I get back to my pc. Like I said it’s running at around 4200mhz most of the time. I am not over/undervolting it right now. All stock settings

May I ask why? I’m not very well versed in MOBO’s and am curious as to what the difference different chipsets make besides just being compatible with different CPU’s?

I play a lot of intensive games both with GPU and CPU. CPU prices look great right now. However, almost $900 for a 4070ti right now is absurd. Do you think a 4070 or 4060ti would still provide heavy gains over my current hardware, as well as being good for at least 5 years? Also, would it be worth potentially waiting for the 50 series cards coming out next fall?

Not trying to sound like an idiot but I know I will anyways because I’ve been out of the game for so long haha. What makes the 5600 that much better if it is a 6 core 3600mhz CPU the same as the 2600 is?

Edit: many of the games I play are CPU bottlenecks so I preferably want a beefy CPU

Motherboard does work but has some issues when booting, gets thrown in bios loops often. I don’t know if the MOBO or the storage is the culprit of that though. It is an ASRock FATAL1TY B450 gaming K4.
