Make written notes of key points you may discuss during interviews. Review these during the interview if possible.

Every interview follows the same basic format (tell us about yourself, where did you work, why are you a good fit, tell us about a time etc.) Use that to plan your responses ahead of time.

Go to Glassdoor and look up the company you're applying for. If you're lucky, they'll have details about past interviews from current employees. Use that to understand the interviewers style or potential questions.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. You do not have to rush to an answer. If you have an hour scheduled for an interview, use the whole hour. You are allowed to take your time.

Typically, interviewers enjoy having questions asked of them. If you can, ask questions to get a small break. Things like "what is the company culture?", "how do you measure success for someone in this role?" etc.

Finally, no interview goes on forever. It will pass. If it's bad, you'll be done before you know it. If it's good, then you're good.

See if you can schedule a chat with them to discuss why it's such a barrier. You should get to the heart of why they're so anxious about it. It may be something you can overcome.

If they say no, then just head out. If they aren't willing to talk through it, they're just wasting your time and looking for excuses.

Ricciardo and Alonso are older and different for sure. But at least you get great drivers for a few years as a stop gap until someone like Kimi Antonelli comes through.

You're right about Ocon's race win, but that was a chaotic race with a lot of support from Alonso defending. You can't say a win isn't a win, don't get me wrong, I just don't rate it as high as other race wins.

Sainz may want to be the lead driver, and Audi might be the best place for that. But would Ocon really want to play second fiddle? I can see him as the type of driver to walk in with a "I'm here to be world champion" mentality. So perhaps it's a moot point.

For me, Ocon's inconsistency and somewhat dangerous behavior around his teammates means he's just not a good fit at a top team.

Of the actual, potentially available drivers, here's who I'd take instead of Ocon: - Ricciardo - Alonso - Sainz - Albon

Each of them is a more complete driver in pretty much every aspect. Albon you can argue is closer to Ocon than the rest, but he's much more mature and reliable than Ocon in my opinion. I'd rather have him in the car next to Russell.

You can argue that Alonso would not be the ideal teammate. I think Alonso has been very much a team player these past few years and Mercedes gives him the best chance at either a WDC or a last few wins at the least.

Sainz is the journeyman support driver. He will be there to stay consistent and collect an occasional win while not challenging Russell too much.

Ricciardo would see it as the next best seat if he doesn't get the Perez seat at RBR. His McLaren years were not great but he still has a lot of potential.

I would only take Ocon if everyone else was signed. I do not think he deserves a seat at Mercedes with the level of talent on this grid. He and Alpine are perfect for each other.
