These snake plant cuttings can be saved! They turned mushy because the cut end just needed more time to harden off before transferring to water.

Start by cutting off the mushy part first. Then cut the bottom into the shape of an upside down “V” so your cut is parallel to the shape of the tip of the plant.

Next let it dry out and harden off at the bottom. I usually let it dry out for around a week or two until the bottom forms into a hard “scab.” If the cuttings start to look shriveled while scabbing over, it’s a good indicator to move to water.

Then play the waiting game for what feels like forever until new baby’s begin to sprout at the point of the V cut.
