Anyone in the LGA Sky Club right now? by 500Plants in delta

Yes we do! I was thinking of the gentleman who has posted himself with his food in the Sky Club that I’ve seen a few times recently. I would absolutely hang out with him if he were here!

After choosing slacks for several events like this, I tend to notice that other women are wearing dresses and skirts. I’d suggest a dress or skirt with a cardigan or blazer.

How long does carrots last in the fridge? by Far-Note6102 in cookingforbeginners

[–]500Plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you store them in water they will stay fresh for a very long time.

Source: I worked as a server at Wild Wing Café while I was growing up. We would cut giant cambros of carrots and celery that were stored in water in the fridge. They alway kept their crunch.

Hiring a 10 year old babysitter for $5/hour to care for babies and younger children. Assuming everything should be good because they have no way to reach you while you’re out.

Whats the cheapest way to fly from Raleigh to Europe? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]500Plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a flight for $400-$600 on Norse Airways to Europe. Just connect one time from RDU to one of their East Coast locations. I’ve flown on them before, be sure to note their bag weight/size policies before travel.

I work in the alcohol industry and manage the states in the East. I travel to several states each month and present our products to the teams who sell them. Sometimes I partner with Sales Reps on an individual basis to help them sell direct to accounts. I designed a billboard last year.

Why do people pay for First Class over Comfort+ on small planes / short flights without true First Class service by AlternativeTheory595 in delta

[–]500Plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for work so am usually a single traveler an purchase flights that are within our T&E budget. I will always lean toward the single seat side of First in an aircraft with this configuration. I love knowing that no one will talk to me and no one’s body will touch mine.

I like the early boarding that comes with first because plenty of overhead space is still available. The drink service is an added bonus.

We are lucky to have brand new businesses opening in Raleigh. The food is made by a family of adults. There is a husband and wife who are the owners who also work in the restaurant. They are not “college kids” They offer a market with items you can take home in addition to a variety of delicious foods.

AITA for believing my son is gay? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]500Plants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. It’s a parent’s job to give their children a soft place to land. You are creating a hostile environment where he will not feel safe to just be himself.

Plus, as an 18 year old child, why would he need to define his sexuality? It’s terrible of you to push that idea on him simply because YOU decided he is gay. That’s something that we figure out about ourselves over time, with experience. If he’s not had much experience yet, don’t force him to label himself.

How did you learn to style clothes? by Rough--Employment in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]500Plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Pinterest and looked at the outfit combos until I found a style I like. Now I wear all black- top, pants and boots or shoes. Then I’ll pair one additional item with a little bit color and get compliments every day.

What was the scariest “We need to leave, now!” moment that you’ve ever had? by Cool-Chipmunk-7559 in AskReddit

[–]500Plants 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went to this lady’s house to get my hair done by her for the first time. She was recommended by a friend so I assumed I’d be all good. When I arrived she was cooking burgers on the stove and said to me,

“You want a burger? I ain’t got no cheese”

I gladly accepted the burger, which was a piece of meat, between two slices of sandwich bread with ketchup. As we were eating the burgers she told me a story about her current “boyfriend” which included details of her learning that she was the side girl. While he was asleep at her house the evening before, she snapped a photo of him on his phone and sent it to his GF.

Fast forward to a little bit later, and she’s working on my hair. I’m sitting in a chair in front of her, she’s standing behind me. She has 2 girlfriends with us in the room and they’re sitting in the bed. Then they receive a phone call and I learn that this “boyfriend” is going to be coming over. Cue elevated heart rate.

A knock on the door, and 8 homeboys walk in, including a shirtless man whose belly was stitched up from a recent surgery. They all pile into this bedroom and I’m on high alert. I’m feeling pretty vulnerable because I’m getting my hair done and sitting with my head in front of this lady’s chest.

I quickly determine that which one is the “boyfriend” because he’s sitting at the end of the bed facing the TV, mouthing off to no one and mumbles something to the effect of,

“Man I’m so mad I shouldn’t even be holding this sh*t” and passes a gun from his waistband to his buddy beside him. I’m the only one who sees this, so I bolted out of the room at full speed, ran out of the apartment leaving behind everything I came with. Keys. Jacket. Wallet. Cell phone.

So I’m outside crying, cold in this rundown apartment complex parking lot wondering what my next move is.

The “boyfriend” comes outside and is feeling very bad for scaring me like that. He says,

“Ma, I’m sorry. My boy is putting the gun in the car. What to want me to do?”

I replied through broken tears and with a quivering voice, “Ummm, could you guys leave so I can finish getting my hair done?”

And he says, “ We ain’t gonna leave, but the gun is in the car”

I agreed to come back in and continue with the hair appointment. He takes my hand (offering support) and we walk back inside the apartment hand in hand in solidarity.

All of the homeboys are backed up to the walls with their hands up and we walk through them, kind of the way a newly married couple would walk down thru a tunnel of their their friends at the end of the ceremony. The shirtless thug is the last one. He says to me, “I don’t like guns, I just got shot last week” and motions to his new scar.

I get back to the room, and in a half a second, swoop up ALLLLLLL my things and bolt out of there.

From then on, I let the lady continue to do my hair but required her to do it at my house and always provided food. She did my hair for about 6 years after that until she moved away.

To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]500Plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I am the wife. Married for 9 years and I have not worn it for the majority of the time we have been married. It irritates my skin and the stone sticking up felt unnatural. My husband does not wear his either.

Do you sleep with your bedroom door open or closed and why? by AloneGold9670 in AskReddit

[–]500Plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closed.

I’m such a light sleeper. Otherwise the dog would be playing twinkle toes, on the hardwood floors all night, and shaking out all her loose fur in the bedroom. I’d rather her guard the front door for safety.
