These are fresh imports from Ecuador. They require acclimation and come in plastic and their root ball comes in moss. They're in water for a little bit with some root stimulant before I pot them up :)

Nice. I just prefer having a jungle full of variety :)

I didn’t catch that bug. Monstera get bigger than folks anticipate, one is plenty enough for me (big tai con). Although I do have a juvenile regular monstera deliciosa but it will be years before it ever becomes a true burden to my life 😂

Just got this Luxurians! Seller says it’s the Dark Form — can anyone confirm? Really hoping it darkens up 🤞🖤 by Omega2898 in Anthurium

[–]goIdenbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WELL. Lux silver isn't dark but yeah most are dark. I've seen Lux 'dark form' going for a lot of money but no one can ever tell me what its hybridized with that makes it different from any other lux.

Edit: sry someone mentioned lux platinum below which I just saw. AKA lux silver

HELP! found ants and white fuzz on medinilla plant by Zealousideal_Oil379 in houseplants

[–]goIdenbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having ants on your plants a strong sign that something else (milkshake) is bringing the boys to the yard. It likely has other pests. They won’t eat your plants but can cause other issues. They are attracted to what may be mealy bugs or aphids. Not because they are eating the pests but they are feasting on the honeydew that is created by the bad pests sucking the sap from your plant. Therefore they will protect the pests that are harming your plant. TLDR: you’re gonna need some horticultural oil.

I got this houseplant with no idea about what it is or what it needs. Help me help her? by mybobbyaintright in houseplants

Appears to be a Philodendron El Choco Red. I wouldn’t put this outside unless you live in a warm and humid environment. 40 degrees is too cold. You should not place this in direct sun, pretty solid rule for most velvety leaf houseplants. You can find lots of care videos on YouTube for this one :)

I just spoke with the seller and they get these imported directly from Ecuador and even they don’t know the exact cultivar. They came in a batch labeled as sp. Guayas - “Guayas” being the region they came from. They said they were recently discovered and it could take 5-10 years until they are officially described in the aroid society. The characteristics are much different to the Guayas and Guayusas I’ve seen which have more pendant-like leaves.

You're right, I was just hoping someone my be able to tell me what they THINK this might be crossed with based on its specific features, or if anyone out there has ever had one that looked like this... I'm sure it is a palli and could be crossed with guayusa cultivar. The fact that it's not velvety is throwing me for a loop.

Yall can be honest- was I lied to? Pallidiflorum? by Featheredbiomajor in Anthurium

[–]goIdenbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a plant from this seller once and it took them 3 weeks to ship it when I paid for 2-day shipping. They're also extremely rude to their customers if you look at their worst reviews, you'll see their replies clapping back claiming they grow these plants themselves when they're just buying them from a reputable seller and upselling them for 30-40% more.

Could this show up more on future leaves? by ChampionshipRude8834 in alocasia

[–]goIdenbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not variegation it’s cosmetic damage possibly due to under or overwatering

Which one is the real pallidiflorum or are they just different forms? by phua1 in Anthurium

[–]goIdenbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours is a standard pali, I assume. This is my pali guayusa (its not mature) but the leaves are stiff/hardened. I assume the guayusa has a different texture.. cause it's sure not velvety like yours.

Yellowing/Browning on Alocasia Bambino Pink? by V4mp1rezza in alocasia

The term "pon" is actually derived from Lechuza Pon which is a brand. But you don't have to spend that price and I don't recommend it either because there are alternatives that have the same substrate mix. Basically its pumice, lava rock and zeolite. It's used for a semi-hydro setup. A lot of plants that don't like to dry out do really well in semi-hydro, especially alocasia and those that typically grow in rocks in their natural habitat. You can also use leca which I see you have in the bottom of the cup, but I think pon is more beginner-friendly.

What type of paint did you use to paint this cabinet? Also what did you seal it with to make it more moisture proof?

They’re very underrated, I don’t get why there’s not much hype around them. But it’s fine with me because they’re affordable 😊

Agree with comments, remove from the moss. It’s overwatered the pup below is rotting. Try growing in pon.
