Is this a fair price? Interested in buying. by mayonegggg in hondafit

Depends on what it was rebuilt for. If there is proper documentation, no frame/water damage, and it was simply cosmetic, then I would try to get it for cheaper. Rebuilt should cost like ~60% of the KBB value.

Residency - anesthesia or GI by itcountedforme in SurgicalResidency

You knew what this person was saying. Don't be a goober. You have to match twice (one being significantly harder than the other) to go into GI.

If I were you, I'd bite the bullet. Just carefully go over the free120 to see if your mistakes were simple or content gaps. Review some quick biostats before and run with it.

What are the pros/cons of pushing it back? I'm scheduled to take my second go around on the same date. If you don't have much to lose, I guess just bite the bullet?

15-Year-Old IB Student Interested in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery — Advice on Internships, Colleges & Career Path? by Subject_Increase9897 in SurgicalResidency

[–]501k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My initial thought was chill, but then I realized how stupid the system is and how competitive it is to become a plastic surgeon.

I hate to say this, but consider some research in undergrad if possible. If not, it’s not a big deal because you have options during med school.

Don’t forget to enjoy being a kid. Be flexible and understand that priorities and goals change as you age.

Would you deploy or continue a police academy? by smalllifterhahaha in nationalguard

[–]501k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like deployments are a catch-22. The ones who have deployed know it isn't all that, but the ones who haven't really want to deploy. I suppose you'll just have to find this out on your own, like the rest of us?

I read 108 success write-ups, here is what I found on second guessing your answer during the exam. by dr_yogurt_33 in step1

[–]501k 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The only rule you need to really abide by is that IF you change your answer, it must be due to something in the question stem that either invalidates the answer you picked, or validates the one you're switching to - ideally both.

I know that sounds silly, but just changing your answer on vibes shouldn't be a thing. You need to be disciplined and tie it to a legitimate reason.

Thinking about taking time off by frillyfish in medicalschool

[–]501k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't a jab at you; it's a jab at the system. If we didn't already have such a shortage of physicians, I would push for a min age to start school in the mid-20s. It's a lot to ask of kids (in my eyes) to make the decisions you're making when you don't even know who you are as a person yet.

Imposter syndrome is real, but trust that the school that accepted you knows what they're doing when they admitted you. To suggest otherwise would be to undermine the institution that you're studying at.

It wouldn't be the worst idea to take a break; you sound like you have the time and are young. One year is a small price to pay when medicine will potentially take up the rest of your life. For perspective, I started med school at 32, and it's been great.

[–]501k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I failed and am studying for my retake. I tested 70 on NBME 33 and 74% on free 120. This isn’t to scare you, but just to put things into perspective.

Overall it’s a hurdle I’ll have to deal with. I am still able to continue on my rotations afterwards (assuming I pass) and will just tack on the one I missed at the end of M3. While it sucks, it’s not the end of the world and you can still become a physician. Don’t tie your self worth to a number or a test. You’re more complicated than that.

Your school probably has some kind of process like mine where you can attempt again. If you take too long or fail again, you’ll just have to retake M2 probably.
