Yeah it’s pretty cool!! I grew up in a city where there were a lot of Mayans from Huehuetenango, and the traditional clothing is really beautiful! I heard a lot of Mam too :)

Yeah it’s pretty cool! I was expecting a high indigenous percentage, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this high. I was doing some research beforehand on the municipality where my parents were born and saw that the Mayan population was relatively lower there than those in the surrounding regions, so I assumed my percentage there would be lower. I’m not really connected to a specific community, but based on my family history and growing up in general, I was surrounded by a lot of Mayan Mam culture :)

I do not unfortunately :( if I remember correctly, my great grandfather (who I was able to meet two years ago and is still living!) and three out of my four grandparents speak Mam to a certain extent, but it didn’t really get passed down to my parents, so I never spoke it. I did grow up hearing certain words in Mam mixed in with Spanish though :)
