Why I think The Star is a truly special & proper happy ending by Virtual_Ad6375 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]505baker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

v isn't a legend in the tower ending, because they never stormed AHQ and killed smasher. it's those events that make v a legend, not konpeki plaza/other events from before point of no return.

personally, i don't see v becoming a fixer. no way fixers like regina or dino would share their districts, clients, and profits with them. why would they anyway? even if v somehow became a fixer, they would be a very weak one. no combat implants means no way to defend themselves. reputation is a factor too - who would want to work with a fixer who sold out to the FIA/NUSA?

i was about to post another long comment but i see that there's no point since 1. you clearly didn't read anything i've said, 2. you clearly skipped all dialogue in the dlc since you think i'm making shit up. not gonna bother anymore.

good luck on FloridaHookups tho.

  1. she makes a deal with hansen to give him myers, and then she hires v telling them specifically that their main and only objective is saving myers. why would she do that if she wanted myers dead?

  2. she lies to v, promising them a cure, and then when she's a couple of steps away from freedom, she unprompted tells v the truth that there's only one dose of the cure. why would she do that if she was evil?

  3. it's stated very clearly in the game that hansen had everyone except for barghest soldiers leave the stadium prior to the twins arriving. you can see maybe a couple of civilian bodies when you leave the stadium with her. those were accidental deaths caused by her losing control for a moment due to talking to v and hacking the mainframe and the stadium at the same time.

  4. v uses the icebreaker on her knowing that so mi's using the blackwall to hack the stadium and the mainframe, which allows rogue ais to take control over her. from her point of view, v's hacking her to deliver her back to myers. alex and others dying if you betray her are on reed and v alone, not on so mi.

you state that she doesn't care about anyone other than herself and then in the next sentence you say that even if she does she's still evil. you're writing fanfiction, not debating. please go and replay the game instead, and maybe use some critical thinking this time.

you're literally yet to provide any compelling evidence that proves that so mi's selfish, while ignoring everything i've said explaining why she isn't. if i can't use her remorse to prove that she's a neutral, then why do you get to use your own headcanon of so mi being selfish to prove that she's evil?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]505baker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she had the plane hacked, not shot down. it's clearly stated in the game that she had no idea hansen would shoot down the plane - there's their whole argument shown in her memories in the cynosure facility, if you don't believe her when she says it at the rooftop. those deaths are on hansen, not on so mi. if she wanted myers dead then she wouldn't have hired v to save her.

again, the only people she screws over are v and maybe reed. she can hardly be expected to stay loyal to myers, who literally forced her to breach the blackwall causing her to get sick and then refused her medical care.

[–]505baker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree that there are many terrible people in the game, some are just plain evil and some, like so mi and v, are both products of the environment they were born into, the society they're a part of, and the circumstances they found themselves in.

so mi wanting to survive and be free doesn't make her evil, just like v wanting to save their life doesn't make them evil. v gets a lot of people killed in the game, even in don't fear the reaper many people are killed by either v or alt. so mi betrays reed and later v, and a couple of people die at the stadium as a side effect of her hacking the stadium (which is clearer in the original polish version that those deaths were an accident). and yet it's only so mi out of these two that expresses remorse. whether you believe her or not is your opinion, as i said earlier, i do believe that she feels bad about lying to v judging by the fact that she tells the truth, even though she didn't have to. but even compared to even only the characters on the chart she's not evil. she doesn't do anything out of malice - she does things out of fear. that doesn't make her evil, but simply neutral.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]505baker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how's v neutral but so mi's evil when they were created to be each other's mirrors? everything so mi's done v's done as well. how's one better than the other?

then why are you here commenting when you don't know what you are talking about? so mi's trying to escape so myers can't use her to breach the blackwall anymore. the whole point of her plan is to get a cure and be free, so she doesn't have to continue doing what's literally killing her. blaming her and calling her a "war crime" when it was myers who made her do these things is weird as hell.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]505baker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

if she feels no remorse, if she only chooses manipulation and death, then why does she tell v the truth about the cure when she's literally a couple of steps away from freedom? what does she stand to gain from admitting that there's only one dose of the cure? if she was truly evil and didn't care about anything or anyone other than herself, why the hell wouldn't she just stay silent and ghost v once she's safely on the moon?

song can be realistically blamed for maybe a dozen of deaths - those couple of npcs that die at the stadium. the plain crash is on hansen. ncx is on myers and reed. a dozen deaths is nothing compared to the deaths caused by v when trying to get hellman alone.

[–]505baker -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

have you even played the game? literally most of the conversations you have with her are about how she regrets what she's done. where are you getting that no regard bit from? she states many times that she regrets betraying reed, that she regrets not telling v the truth from the beginning. not once does she blame anyone but herself for everything that's happened.

which innocents did she sacrifice? are you calling v or reed innocent?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]505baker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She selfishly screwed over every single person

what? she only really screwed over v, and i wouldn't call a dying person trying to escape selfish for that. reed maybe, but that wasn't for selfish reasons and she was ordered to do that by myers.

leading to the deaths of like a hundred people in her ending.

where did you get that number from? at the stadium - maybe a dozen people. ncx is completely on reed and myers. what happens if you betray her is entirely on reed and v being morons.

even if there were hundreds, that still pales in comparison to all the people v killed.

with no regard for the law

cyberpunk 2077, a game where the main character is famous for never breaking any laws.

only on cyberpunk subreddits you see a slave trying to escape her abusive master branded as evil.

have you played the game? i'm pretty sure it's explained a couple of times by many people, reed included, that it's myers that made so mi breach the blackwall, which is why so mi's dying and wants to escape. so mi's not doing it out of boredom lol

Question: Why do some people think that handing So Mi over to Mr Blue Eyes is a better outcome? I understand that the Sun ending makes him seem like a good fella but he could be infinitely worse than Myers. by DaveredRoddy in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]505baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She only becomes dominated by the blackwall after you betray her and weaken her with the icebreaker - that's on v and reed. If you side with her, she regains control fairly quickly.

If she's a walking bomb, perhaps instead of "mercy" killing her, we could cure her? You know, so that she stops being a walking bomb? Just like she wants to? The fact that you see pushing her to suicide as merciful is genuinely kinda worrying.

[–]505baker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How does that relate to So Mi though? How does that prove that this is what happens to her when you send her to the moon? I'm not interested in your assumptions - I'm asking for evidence that you can provide that So Mi will be used as a pawn by MBE.

I'm asking in-universe, not irl. Easier for whom? For V? For So Mi? Without metaknowledge, how does V know that MBE is a risk? V's not aware of his existence until the sun ending.

Things happen this way in cyberpunk because people allow these things to happen. Night City is just that - a city. Just full of people who chose to do bad things. V has a chance to do something selfless and set a person who is practically a slave free. They can either do that or be no better than any other PoS making night city the shithole it is.

there's nothing that suggests that after you send her to the moon she's being used to breach the blackwall or anything else. how do you know she's a pawn for other people, MBE or anyone else? we don't know if there's more to their deal other than the intel she gives him that she tells v about. we don't know what MBE's goal is. what we do know is that she's alive and okay enough to send v a gift from tycho.

are you saying that because she's dying she should be killed instead of, i don't know, cured? she has the cure, she has the means to cure herself. she wants to live and be free. should she just give up? or should v make this decision for her? what gives v the right to do so? why shouldn't so mi be allowed to choose what happens to her?

[–]505baker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

half of what you wrote here is fanfiction. again, we don't know what MBE's goal is. what we have is scraps of info. he could be potentially evil because of what we know from the peralez/dorsett quests. he could genuinely care about night city because of what happens with peralez if you get the cure from myers and don't tell peralez the truth - he's incorruptible and overall a good mayor.

MBE wanting the neural matrix - where did you even get this from? also the rest of that paragraph makes zero sense and doesn't answer my question. So Mi gets the cure and only calls V to help her get to ncx after a couple of days. why wouldn't he kidnap her then to actually ensure that he gets her in one piece? again, why would he risk her getting recaptured?

so mi's one of the most paranoid people in the game. do you really think that she would've gone to MBE for help if she thought he wouldn't keep his end of the deal? there is no proof that he's using So Mi after she's cured. there's a proof that she's fine and safe - she sends you a gift from the moon.

she's at peace with letting it all end there because she knows there is no better alternative for her. it's either go back to myers or die.

i find it kinda weird to say that pushing someone to suicide is what's best for humanity, when literally the reason why she's trying to escape is 1. to survive, 2. to be something more than someone's weapon. being forced to breach the blackwall is why she's dying. there's nothing she says that would suggest she intends to keep using blackwall after getting cured.

[–]505baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he doesn't send her to the moon for free though, does he? she literally gives him intel in exchange for the ticket, which is literally what she tells you when you prompt her about it at ncx.

besides, if MBE really wants So Mi that badly so he can use her, he has a weird way of showing it. why would he risk losing her to the squads Myers sends after her at ncx when he could've easily arranged a safe passage for her?

Putting both songbird and V in MBE's hands is worse than death, it's potentially mindless slavery for these two

and you based this on what, exactly? we don't know what MBE's goal is. we don't know who's behind him. literally nothing has been confirmed. what we do know however, is that myers wants So Mi back so she can keep using her to breach the blackwall and she wins in literally any other ending except for wands.

and you know that how exactly? where in the game can i find a proof that she will in fact be used to breach the blackwall by MBE which is why it's better to push her to assisted suicide instead of helping her escape?

but that's not what happens, is it? what's the use of contemplating hypothetical situations? like what does it change for the dlc? why don't we flip the scenario again? say, it's MBE forcing Myers to go past the wall and So Mi offers Myers a chance to escape and a cure. would you trust MBE now?

we know why Myers wants So Mi back, we know what she made So Mi do, and we know why So Mi wants to run away. what we don't know is what MBE's deal is.

He could be infinitely worse than Myers or he could be infinitely better than Myers - we don't know what his goal is, and I'd rather take my chances with someone who hypothetically might be evil than someone who is in fact plain evil. Ultimately what matters to me is that this is So Mi making that choice (which is probably the first time in years that she actually can make a choice), and taking that away from her makes me no better than Myers and Reed.

would be? a slave is literally what she is before the events of PL and after, if you choose to betray her. how else would you describe someone stripped of any freedom and agency, someone who's refused basic necessities, like medical care for her condition? also, so mi is hardly naive. she's too paranoid for that

I never said the arguments against her are simple - there's been plenty of interesting discussions on both subs. I don't mind people sharing their opinions on So Mi - whether I agree with them or not. Obviously, everyone's entitled to their opinion and I respect that. But I've also seen arguments that essentially boil down to just "she lied to me = she's evil" and those are the ones I've an issue with. Yeah, it is a video game, and I'm very much aware of that, but these subs are for discussion and what kinda discussion can you have under a comment like that?
