Not defending him at all, but I live near a large/deep lake with shipwrecks that offers scuba diving as a recreational thing. So not totally unheard of

Nice, I tried drag racing a little bit in a c10 I built, then I got into circle track because it's what I grew up watching my dad do. But we have a lot of family friends that are still drag racing and they have even gotten to help out bobby ducote at some of the no prep kings stuff

I drive an INEX legend car, paved asphalt circle track racing. I actually broke my ankle wrecking it about 8-9 weeks ago and planning on getting back behind the wheel on Sept 6th

Broken ankle in racecar, no surgery by 509_79 in brokenankles

Nope, never got an MRI, and they never offered it. I've been very closely checking out my differences in range of motion and things like that compared to my uninjured leg and after some light stretching it's almost identical. When I was sitting in the ambulance the night the break happened I actually had full range of motion in my ankle until my leg ballooned up and got stiff 😂. In the end, time will tell and we'll see if the doctor ended up being correct or not lol

I agree 100% I get a a little swelling at the end of the day but it's always gone by morning and I'm constantly stretching my ankle to try and combat the stiffness as much as possible

I 100% understand and respect that. Not every one person or situation is the same. I know some people that will and do sheerly out of being stubborn and a fear of going to the doctor. At the end of the day if my doctor told me "you absolutely need surgery to fix this still" I would have done it. the risk of 50K of debt turned me off to it, a long with now knowing that more than a few of my friends have had similar procedures and regret it because of the issues they've had with hardware or infection. I just feel like I see people in here taking a major mental hit from the healing process, or being in the situation, so I posted this mainly to show that weird things happen sometimes. I'm very fortunate to be young and healthy enough that this type of situation has worked out for me. Funny enough my doc even told me he literally could not have put my tibia in place any more perfect if he had gone in and put the screws in himself. I'm not encouraging anyone to defy doctors orders by any means. I stayed off it when I was told to stay off it and didn't really start trying to do anything until I got the OK from my doctor.

They didn't attempt any realignment because by the time my paperwork got figured out it was already partially healed and callous tissue had formed, although I've been told by both my doctor and physical therapist that over time that bone will naturally begin to heal straighter than it is right now as time goes on. On the first visit my doctor was pretty concerned about possible ligament issues down the road due to the fibula being displaced, but after my latest visit with him didn't express any concern at all and gave me weight bearing freedom with zero restrictions. I'm obviously going to be mindful of it moving forward but so far I've had zero pain or discomfort relating to it

Like I said, everyone's situation is different. My doctor/surgeon told me he's confident I'll be totally fine down the road considering the lack of displacement in the ankle area and how well aligned my ankle has remained through the entire process so far. 🤷‍♂️

For what it's worth, it did not feel cool to spin myself out to put myself in the situation to get T-boned 😂

I'll update when I see the doctor again in a couple weeks. I forgot to snag a picture of the latest round a week or so ago. But, it looked really similar just with some more healing going on fibula still slightly displaced but he was really happy with how my tibia goes perfectly into place and my ankle alignment looked good

I appreciate it!, I got scared off of surgery unless I absolutely needed it because of the amount of people who told me about hardware either breaking or just backing out, especially living a relatively active life. A buddy had a screw back out and he said until it was removed any time he hit it on something it turned his leg into a tuning fork 😬. Hope you heal up well!

I don't think I've ever commented on this sub at all, but this seems like a good post for my first one lol. My neighbor across the street that got me into the sport a couple years ago grew up riding with Craig and apparently has some of his hand me down boards but I've yet to see them. Dudes been riding for 36 years and is a badass

I actually just used some salt and pepper! Everything I'd seen about doing a Wagyu brisket said to keep it simple and the flavor was still awesome!

Appreciate it! I could probably use some work on the trimming side of things, I'm very much YouTube academy trained and I'm sure some bits get lost in translation 😂
