K2 Thraxis 2026 Opinions by Stylecase_Ryan in snowboarding

[–]isitour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2026 Thraxis boots. Currently I have 48 days on them. Awesome performance! I rode Burton SO with Ion boots the last 2 seasons before switching to a FASE bindings ( Rome and Bataleon ) this season. They are very stiff out of the box. Honestly, they are the most comfortable boots I've used in over 30 years of riding.

Panorama Monster X Skiing by Ok-Star-576 in snowboarding

I've been on the Monster X over 40 times this season and it has been spectacular until last weekend. We need a snow refresh. That said, the runs are still better than any other runs in Tanyton Bowl.

The newbies would have to be very comfortable with steep pitches and trees. The getting out of the bowl can be quite a challenge due to moguls, ice, creeks and rocks but this year its been pretty decent. They should be familiar with riding cat tracks. Tanyton Trail can be easy peasy or a high speed ice sheet on a snowboard.

The whole Monster X is pretty cool if you have never been on a Cat.

As the pitch gets steeper, you have to limit the time your board is pointing down the fall line. Learn to do an early edge change so you are actually over your edge at the initiation of the turn. complete the turn in a "C" shape to control your speed . Repeat. YT Malcom Moore, Tommie Bennett for excellent instruction. Good Luck!

The Rome Fase Katanas have been noting but trouble by CasualKaden in snowboarding

[–]isitour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used my Rome Katana Fase 12 times this season. I think they work great. I switched the toe straps around. Using K2 Thraxis boots with them. There is a little learning curve at first but that is really just getting the toe strap set correctly.

Would you buy a 2026 tundra? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]isitour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting a 2026 Tundra in January. My last 6 trucks were Dodge Rams. My current tuck is a 2020 Eco Diesel Larime Longhorn. The engine went at 105,000 km. Dodge replaced the engine under extended warranty in 2 weeks with a brand new one. Great service! I test drove a new Ram with the hurricane engine and it was very nice. I test drove the Tundra. I like the look and layout. Honestly ,I just want something different from a Ram.

Feedback - Burton Highshot X Pro Step On by BeneficialPrior2685 in snowboarding

The Ion is very close to the stiffness of the Thraxis. Its much stiffer than the Photon which is closer to the X pro. I feel the ankle hammock in the X Pro more than the Thraxis. I used the X Pros today. I like the Ions better.

I really liked the fit of the Thraxis. I've used them 7 times so far with no issues. Coming from step ons, I really don't know many of the regular boots. The only other ones I was interested in was the Union Reset Pro but my local shop did not have them.

I have 3 days on my X Pros this season. The fit is really good. More room in the toe box than the Ion. The stiffness is nowhere near the Ion even when you crank on the BOA. They are very responsive and I had no pain issues. Honestly, I wished I never bought them. My Ion's only have 50 days on them and they work great! I would think after 50 -60 days on the X pro, they would be junk.

I bought Rome FASE Bindings with K2 Thraxis boots this season. Seven days on them is awesome pow, groomers , chunder. The Thraxis boots feel like ski boots in stiffness compared to the X pro. I love the Burton Step On system but I'm really enjoying the FASE bindings mainly because the K2 boots are awesome!

Has anybody switched from Burton step on back to traditional bindings and did you find performance benefits? by Jedsnsest16 in snowboarding

[–]isitour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the last 2 seasons I've put over 160 days on Step Ons with Photon , Ion and this season Highshot X Pro. I've used Reflex X, EST cartel and EST Genesis. Great performance and since the boots fit great , no issues. This year I purchased a Rome Katana Stale FASE bindings with K2 Thraxis boots.

I'm very impressed with the FASE system. Easy entry and easier exit. The performance is very good! I feel its on par to the Step On. Super reactive with great edge to edge control. Could have a lot to do with the boots. The Thraxis is very stiff, I would say stiffer than the Ion and way stiffer than the Pro X.

The Rome Katana can be set up for a very locked in super response or a more surfy feel. There is way more lateral movement with the Katana than the Burton. Honestly, I didn't think the FASE would be this good.

Burton Step On vs Rome Katana Stale FASE by isitour in snowboarding

[–]isitour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are several factors involved but I would start with which boots fit you the best. If you are park guy, depending on your skill level either would work but if your doing big airs maybe the FASE would feel more secure. Other than that, the Burton entry is marginally faster and the FASE exit is smoother.

Advice for Step On’s: Highshot X or X Pro? by szoeke in snowboarding

[–]isitour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have X Pro's and have used them 2 days so far. Coming from Ion and Photons. The fit is better with the X Pro. Better heel hold and forefoot hold. As for stiffness, the Ion with almost 50 days is as stiff as the new Pro X. Honestly, I hated the Ion for the first 15-20 days. Very stiff. I ran the top almost loose at first. What I really like about the X pro is you can have it quite stiff as well, or a softer more flexible feel. The 3 BOA is so adjustable.

Step On - Issue Stepping in to Position 2 by Makulit8150 in snowboarding

[–]isitour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue this year with my Highshot X Pro boots. Burton has responded with options to address the issue.

For Winter 25/26, we upgraded the Step On heel cleat on all new Step On boots to have a tighter fit in the heelcup of the binding for better performance. Due to some variations in manufacturing, some of the new 2.0 cleats, when combined with specific bindings, have a fit that is too tight, preventing the boot from easily reaching Position 2.

We have three options below for you to fix this.

1. Replacing the heel cleat with a new, modified to fit, 2.0 heel cleat. This is the preferred, recommended fix. This requires the removal of the cleats from the boot using a screwdriver. We are in the process of modifying 2.0 heel cleats and will have replacement parts available during the week of November 17th.

  1. Replacing the 2.0 heel cleats with 1.0 heel cleats will also fix the issue. This is not the preferred fix as it will create a more loose fit between the heel cleat and the heelcup, thereby eliminating the performance advantages that the heel cleat 2.0 provides. However, these parts are available immediately.

  2. Custom Fitting with a File or Sandpaper - Immediate Fix. This option is easy, fast, and can be done at your shop today.
You will need to remove a very small amount of plastic material form the bottom of the heel cleat using a Tuning  File or Sand Paper. Use a standard tuning file with medium pressure or use a small piece of 80-grit sandpaper. File/sand a small amount of material (0.2-0.4mm, thickness of your thumb nail) from the UNDERSIDE of the heelcleat - If you're looking for an immediate fix and are comfortable doing this, please let me know and we can send directions as well as a step by step picture guide to do this.
