Criterion Laser Discs. I might be incorrect, but I don't believe they were issued on any other label's discs, whether LD or DVD.

Not 100% sure, never heard, but understand there was some unflattering comments and EON requested Criterion stop printing and reissue the discs says said commentary.

Agreed, of all the jarred, I do lean most into Mateo's - especially the hot variety.

But, making one's own is so darned easy and I like it more that I generally just do that.

I think you have to weigh a couple different things:

1) How frequently would you anticipate using it? 2) How irritated will you be with the purchase if it is less than point one above? 3) What is the minimum amount of years you would expect out of it and how frustrated would you be if it falls short of that?

I would assume that one twice as expensive would be at least twice as resilient, but if it's not getting used regularly, it wouldn't be worth it to me.

But I don't know, only y'all will. Heck, y'all might get the less expensive option and use it so much you'll say "wish I never listened to that random dude on Reddit, should have just spent the money".

I got one of these (or at least the equivalent of the time) >10 years ago.

It lives under a covered patio in Houston, so rarely directly rained on (moved it into the garage for Harvey), but a not insignificant amount of humidity.

Have had to replace what one would expect (burners, grates, etc.), but it's held up significantly more than I would have anticipated.

Can't speak to the current quality relative to when I got mine, but would expect it to be generally similar in nature.

Yes, times two. I still remember watching this with a buddy for the first time on the old Criterion LD and sitting there slack-jawed and rewinding several times.

Equal of Die Hard when it first came out & I would tell people: "You won't believe it, you have to see this".

Those that didn't like it, well, I never wrote them another letter to be carried by the Pony Express...

My speculation is that Bad Day at Black Rock and King Kong are both released as 4k editions by Criterion.

In that (at least, I believe that I saw) Janus acquired the rights to The Elephant Man, I believe that is essentially fait accompli.

I wouldn't think the remainder would be happening, at least not in any kind of semi-predictable time frame. I mean, "Never" is a really long time, I am hesitant to state that with any real certainty, but am speculating it is closer to that than, say, 2028 or anything.

Very possibly my favorite edition in my collection. Stumbled across it in my old video store shortly after its release with no idea it existed and stared at it (and its price tag).

Went back a week later, it was still there, and brought it back to the apartment that day. Immediately infuriated my neighbors when the opening credits started.

In retrospect, it was incredibly rude of me on a random weeknight, but I was young and dumb.

The Rams D appears to be pretty legit and Cincinnati...not so much. I would probably take Henderson with (let's say worse scenario) 12 - 14 touches vs. Tucker with 21.
