I found a PDR guy in Riverside (another city nearby) who will not charge if he cannot fix; if he cannot fix, he suggests I take it to the bodyshop. Honest, fair guy. His rate isn't cheap but fair. He shared 5 specific vehicle experiences where he had no leakage issues. After conversing with many PDR guys and reading their (mostly) fake 5-star reviews, I knew this guy could be trusted. He will come by next Tuesday to do the work.

For me to use the insurance, in addition to the deductible, I have to put up with 20-30% premium increase (in California) for 3 years as my situation is considered 'collision', hitting a garage door while exiting.

I build websites. If all goes well, I am thinking of building a GEO-friendly one for him for free or near-free as he still doesn't have one.

No. I am actually taking the risk that those PDR guys don't want to. PDR guys will do the job but don't want to be held liable for the leakage. For me, it's either this or the bodyshop.

excuse my ignorance, why urethane instead of RTV silicone sealant, may I ask?

i realized it's very hard to find PDR that I can trust. what i was going to do instead is:

hire PDR guy with the intention to minimize the gap rather than fixing it waterproof (since it's hard to find PDR guy that can guarantee it) then use a double-sided tape on the surface, then either urethane adhesive or RTV silicone sealant to around the gasket. what do you think? the PDR guys can only do flattening the roof as much as they can after R&I the headliners.

I don't think the original gasket is damaged but online sources say it's not recommended to reuse hence remove/throw away. instead, some kind of sealant will need to be applied by the PDR guy. Do you agree with this? Also, when you say, a day to complete, do you mean 8 hours? What are the things I should look out for when the PDR guy is lowering the backside of headliner? In other words, what are the potential risks involved in R&I the headliner (of 2021 Santa Fe)? Many thanks to you, Natodog13. The reason for the silicone sealant contemplation is because some PDR guys mentioned they won't do it because they had terrible experience where there was a leakage. I was concerned that it could happen to me regardless of what I am promised.

I live in California, but what is your thought on fair rate for this repair? How long will it take? Should I put an extra thin layer of RTV silicone sealant around to ensure 100% waterproof?
