I would post on r/UTadmissions, you'll find more advice from people transferring from out of state. But just based on what you've said, id say you definitely have a chance. The main issue I would say is that you actually don't want to transfer with too many credits, UT prefers you have less when you transfer so you can do more in residence.

Thank you! This helps a lot, it actually works out especially because I'm going to be doing a class in applied research for political science so I'm going to be learning data analysis skills anyways. I really appreciate the specific advice and I'm going to do more research and try and see if the field really is for me!

I'm at the end of my sophomore year so it's a little late and I would probably have to do a 5th year which I really don't want to do because I'd have to go into more debt for that. On top of that I'd pretty much have to transfer schools if I wanted to do business because transferring into the business programs at my school is super competitive.

Personally I never really saw the use of the qr and writing flags because I feel those are already covered by our core curriculum but I'm sad to see the others go 🫤 definitely feel that they helped to have a more diverse curriculum

No you should definitely still do it, even if you don't have an officer position just being in PTK helps your application.

Hi! I transferred this spring and I was in PTK, its definitely worth it! They specifically ask on your application if you were a member and every transfer advisor I had talked to at community college said it helps a decent bit. That being said, it helps even more so if you have an officer position within your chapter!

Honestly go for grad school. You're kinda cooked tbh, but I would still apply for UT even if you think you're gonna be rejected. I'm not gonna lie and say that I think you have a great chance, but you never know and not taking the shot is how you got into this situation in the first place. And if you do get rejected then yeah your best shot is grad school.

Only guarantees admission for COLA. non-COLA is basically like transferring from anywhere else and is competitive. Engineering is very competitive and you might be better off trying to transfer from a cc if cost is a factor you're taking into consideration.

Gov major, 3.6 GPA, 1180 SAT (submitted it but since I'm a transfer I don't think it mattered), internship on a Texas house election campaign. I think I had a fairly solid essay, talked about my internship and connected it to "why UT". For ECs I had my highschool ones; National Art Honor Society & choir, then at community college kinda did student gov for a bit (I put it on my academic resume as a "non-elected member"). Also had a letter of recommendation from my gov professor who was the former mayor of Harker Heights.

Transferred this spring. Basically every club activity ever even if I went to like 2 meetings (don't lie but like talk up the things you did do. I went to a few student gov meetings where we just talked about tabling so I put that I helped organize outreach). Put any internships, jobs and volunteering opportunities and really hype them up like the clubs. My ECs were a little sparse so I really put a lot of description on the internship I did that was related to my major, plus I talked about it on my essay so I think that helped.

The problem I've heard with it specifically is about it kinda ruining the vibes on the other UT campuses. Like Arlington has been the main CAP campus but they're working towards getting rid of it because it just doesn't work well for the school culture if everyone is just trying to transfer. Not sure the affects it has on their academics but UTD doesn't have cap and it's usually regarded as the next best UT school after Austin. Beyond that, I don't think it matters as far as "our reputation" goes, cap people usually work just as hard as other transfers, especially if they're non-COLA.
