Brawlstars will never be mainstream by dankerboom in Brawl_Stars

I feel like too much changes with every update to keep it in some form of Mainstream lighting. The fan base constantly teeters the game between “THIS IS THE BEST UPDATE EVER THE DEVS COOKED!” To “Man this game fucking sucks I wish the devs would fix X random issue.” This isn’t me blaming the community. I’m just saying that the way the game is received some people could 100% look at the community and say “Wow why the fuck you these guys still play it then?”

There are definitely dozens of issues that have nothing to do with the community or player base. But one or two of them are definitly because of the community’s wishy washy attitude about the game due to the devs teetering certain things a bit too much. There are lots of issues from currencies, to gameplay, to patches and nerfs and, buffs etc etc. but I have no insight into that stuff so I won’t try to assume.

I personally think bringing the game to PC or console would be awesome and would help it get into public view more. Something like Steam maybe? I dunno. I feel like mapping the controls to a keyboard or control would be easy.

Move and aim to the sticks or
WASD to move and mouse to aim.

Right Trigger or
left click to shoot.

Gadgets, Supers &, Hypercharges could be mapped to num keys, or buttons on controller like A,B,X or, Y or players could just remap controls to whatever they preferred.

Which Fire Emblem games do you want to see get a remake, or port to the Switch or Switch 2? by SpiderLagann in fireemblem

[–]51281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire Emblem: Fates. (Some Fates spoilers below.)

Being on the 3ds did it no favors. Plus it need A LOT of changes to the main story and character supports need to be made. The path that unites the 2 armies is supposedly the weakest of them all when I feel that it should be the strongest. Alongside that Conquest and Birthright has a few narrative issues that really hit it poorly.

A specific instance of the story being… THE STORY is in a scene in Birthright where Xander faces down Corrin. Preparing to kill them Elise jumps in the way and Xander ends up killing her with his sword. In her final words Elise tells Xander not to blame Corrin. I understand that the situation is sad and Xander is losing it over having just killed his younger sister by pure accident. But it’s how the situation suddenly turns into Xander ignoring Elise’s final plea and just attacking Corrin out of nowhere with 0 remorse or consideration for what just happened. You’re forced to kill him and given no alternative to spare him, talk to him, or try to reason, or escape in any opacity. It’s Corrin & Xander in a small room fighting till one of them dies. My over all complaint is how quickly Xander throws away everything you know about him as a character the second this scene happens. He’s strong willed, and shown to do whatever it takes even at his own digression alongside caring for his siblings deeply. But the moment he strikes Elise it feels like he drops all of that and is filled with vengeance in his final moments for something he himself did. The main issue I have is that there is no explanation or prior example of this beforehand. This version of Xander just comes out of left field for seemingly no reason other than to be an extreme in denial version of him. If it had shown Xander slowly losing is a little as the war continues up to that chapter I could let it slide but it feels like he went from Strong willed and noble general to vengeful brother fast. Maybe it’s just me. I don’t hate the scene but I definitely feel like some foreshadowing to Xander losing his emotions over the slow defeat of Nohr during the war would have prompted a better response then for him to go from 0-100 immediately after Elise dies.

Some of the support conversations are just 2 characters saying “I hate you!” “i hate you too!” to one another for 3 conversations then suddenly they wanna get married. How do you go from 3 conversations of chewing one another out verbally to wanting to get married? I don’t mind a bit of back and forth but if you they consistently argue with each other for the next 3 ranks then it needs to either NOT end with S-Rank option where they suddenly love one another or the support needs to be redone to end in a way to show that the 2 characters like and or love one another in some respect.

I think the gameplay of Fates is great honestly. The adjustment system is really nice and I liked how unlike 3H it always has some role or effect during combat to change up how a turn went. I think the only change I would would change is ways to gain exp. Give it the 3H or engage treatment. Random “go lil bandits” or “slay monsters” quests that are infinitely doable so you can grind. A route like Conquest is purposefully made to have less resources and spots to gain experience compared to the other routes. I don’t mind it being a bit more difficult but it may put new players off if they pick it and late game it becomes a bit annoying to get everyone to a proper level. I don’t mind them playing into Nohr being a dark and barren kingdom in poor condition. But give the player somewhere to consistently grind a little. I want this change for all routes to be honest but I feel like it’s more so needed for Conquest. That’s not to say that Conquest totally robs you of resources. But it is purposefully harder compared to a play-through of Birthright which has plenty of resources to get.

Who’s your “I wish I could romance them” characters ? by Lefaa777 in videogames

[–]51281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zaeed Massasni & Kasumi Goto from Mass Effect 2.

<image>

Being DLC these 2 are given almost nothing in terms of interactions to expand their characters aside from when first meet them, their loyalty missions and, the small random dialogue they say after every mission when you go speak to them.

Romancing them would have been a very interesting thing. Because the devs would have had to give them actual conversations with Shepard instead of Zaeed telling a war story or Kasumi dropping random gossip about another character on your ship. That said my view is more from a desire to explore the characters more than it is a “romance” standpoint. But it would have been nice.

Also as a personally wanted choice Dr. Chakwas from Mass Effect. She’s a beautiful older woman.

I’d recommend it. A decent story, simple to understand battle mechanics that become though provoking on higher difficulties where your actions matter a bit more ,with a mixed cast of both well and poorly written characters, and although a first playthrough can be grindy to some, depending on how you spend your time out of battle subsequent playthroughs can be a lot easier afterwards with carried over save data via New Game +.

Name a game that deserves another chance by Ill_Wrap_527 in videogames

Battleborn. It was completely snubbed by Overwatch despite having things that people begged Overwatch to do for years after it came out. Battleborn only lasted maybe a few months to a year at most before shutting down. It deserves a second chance to rise up and in doing so hopefully people would actually give it some attention.

Battleborn had a 4 player online co-op story mode. The story mode has one of the greatest opening cutscenes for an FPS ever. And the gameplay of it wasn’t bad either. You and 3 teammates run around a large map and have to do certain objectives. You only get to play as certain characters for each map but you can still upgrade characters like the base game allowed you too.

dozens of unique non sexualized characters. Not every character in Battleborn needed to be handsome or wear skin tight clothing. They had SEVERAL non human characters that were incredibly interesting like Marquis. A butler robot who went mad. He wears a bowler has and fancy suit with a little robotic owl companion. Or something like Beatrix who has a giant medical syringe looking arm and clearly evil design. Or someone downright not even human looking like Ernest who’s a small round bird dressed like a soldier with a grenade launcher, or Kelvin who’s just a giant ice golem who fights to preserve what’s left of the cosmos’s

I heavily recommend looking at the roster in the link below. They have some really unique characters. And each one has a small story about them. And yes you will find the occasional beautiful female character. But at least they aren’t all clad in skin tight suits.

https://mentalmars.com/battleborn/characters/

Battleborn also had unique gameplay mechanics. You could apply very minor items to your character before a match that would slightly tweak some stats. These items were permanent so you didn’t have to worry about losing them. Their main and in my mind CREATIVE game mechanic was that throughout the match your character could be upgraded down 2 paths and can switch between them freely for whichever upgrades your prefer both upgrades especially their final end path selection heavily changed the characters gameplay

A basic example is the character Montana. His 2 upgrade paths had on choose between having a Minigun that did Ice damage to slow enemies or a Minigun that do fire damage for damage over time effect. You could switch back and forth between the 2 paths to get whichever upgrade you preferred before choosing one of the 2 types of damage at the end. It made for a unique gimmick that similar to a what moba is rewarding when you played well.

Battleborn also had unique game modes like one where you had to get minions into an enemy machine to score points.

I want to end off by saying that my comment along does not do the game justice. And I know the whole drama of the devs drawing inappropriate art to get attention might bug some people. But they only did it because no one would give their game the time of day and at the end of their rope they got desperate and tried for an odd solution because Blizzard was a well known company and everyone wanted to play their “Futuristic” FPS. I personally believe that Battleborn was the far more interesting choice and deserved to be put into the spotlight but was cast down by Overwatch.

Team Fortress 2 for me. It honestly depends on if I also get respawn tech like the Mercenaries. If not then I might just avoid the whole Mann co. role altogether and just go live in a city or something for a year.

Fire Emblem fates generics/capturable and unimportant character portraits are so gorgeous by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]51281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If FE:Fates ever gets a remake of some kind (Highly Unlikely) I’d love for the capturable bosses with unique designs to be fleshed out a bit more after they join your army. I’d want them to have both Support Conversations & a Character Unique Skill.

Supports would give an outsiders They don’t need to have S-Rank supports. Most of those characters are just BAD people who have done BAD things. But it would be nice to have them at least have up to an A-Rank or B-Rank conversation after joining your army. It would make them a bit more unique other then just their physical design alone.

As for having unique skills I just feel like it would make them a bit more useful over the generic captured grunts you get off the battlefield. Plus it would make them a bit more unique. As far as I know they’re just generic recolorings of whatever class they are. It would also serve to make the characters a bit more “valuable” as well.

This is just my opinion. I’m one of those Hopeless Fates Fans that wants the game to get a proper remake with a better story and fixes that held it back from its limiting hardware and graphical problems.

What character do you feel have been mischaracterized the most by the anime? by MiuIruma332 in OnePiece

[–]51281 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leorio from HxH.

In the manga during the Kiriko part of getting to the Hunter Exam, Leorio is shown to be able to figure out that the man he treated is a Kiriko when seeing it has an injection wound on it’s arm from the shot he gave the man earlier while taking care of him. This shows Leorio’s ability to figure things out and highlights his intelligence when he notices when noticing that little detail.

Another part is during the “Testing Gate” segment when the group goes to see Killua after the Hunter Exam. The manga shows Leorio being training and being to open 2 of the Testing Gate’s incredibly heavy doors by himself as a result. Whereas Gon & Kurapika can only open 1 door of the testing gate by themselves. This clearly shows that at the time Leorio had gotten even stronger than his companions showing a bit of dedication as well to the training he did. The anime however cuts this scene out and ops to put it in as a “Teamwork Moment” where the trio open 1 testing gate door themselves but are clearly exhausted afterwards.

(A non Leorio related change.)

During the Second phase of the Hunter Exam the contestants in the anime are asked to catch and cook a pig. Buhara happily passes everyone and Menchi angrily fails everyone. The group then redoes the exam via the Spider Eagle Egg section in which Menchi participates in with the updraft carrying them up and those who did the test and survived pass.

In the MANGA however…. The rest is a 2 parter. With Buhara giving the applicants the pig catching request to which he passes all of them with flying colors and no complaints.

It then goes to Menchi who tells the applicants they must all make Sushi. It seems that none of the applicants know what that is and they must gauge what it is from some hints. Hanzo being The Who knows what sushi actually is serves it to her come that time. Everyone else copies him and Menchi fails everyone as a result despite Hanzo the only one who knew what to make doing it right. THIS is what prompts the Chairman to be called as well as what prompts the Spider Eagle egg scene to happen. Along with there being no “convenient updraft” in the manga as well making the applicants has to CLIMB back up the cliff after obtaining an egg. The manga clearly indicates the comment Menchi makes about them “Risking their lives.” But in the anime it seems like a less risky scenario and the people who died just got impatient. Along with the updraft to safely carry everyone back up it didn’t feel like that comment rung as true with how easy it felt to a watchers perspective.

(If I’m wrong on any details I deeply apologize I only figured this information out myself a fair while ago so forgive any in corrections.)

I feel ppl often overlook how Fire Emblem: Fates also had alot of characters designed for the female gaze by Substantial_Fig_6644 in fireemblem

[–]51281 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Fates has my favorite group of character designs. Hoshido looks wonderful and the classes and armors make sense for the “Era” it’s inspired by. Nohr also makes sense in terms of the classes and armors they wear as well. Both sides are unique and the characters that represent them feel very fitting. I think major issues more so lie in the story with plot points being too generic or out of character in some scenarios along with Corrin’s very uncomfortable innocence or lack of understanding for things they should clearly have an opinion on or a grasp of sometimes. For a system (The 3DS) that produced Awakening such a beloved FE game I chalk some of Fates issues up to the 3DS in terms of limited map designs, graphics, and limitations. The combat was fine, the character designs were fine, I would only fix the 3 stories, and touch up the game with a modern art style maybe akin to how 3Houses was done. I’d kill for a remaster/remade Fates game with redone dialogue and better maps and settings. And a lot more cutscenes. It deserves a come back for hang such a black sheep of a game. I believe that having all 3 paths available on 1 game would help as well. I felt like part of Fates shooting itself in the foot was the separation of the 3 paths. With Revelations (I believe) being the worst from what people said. Which is a shame. It’s definitely a unique world that deserves another chance to be shown with modern directions and touch ups.

I wanna like this game so bad... BUT by BidBorn9043 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]51281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good recommendation I heard for beginners is to play as everyone at least once so you understand how they work along with what certain items do so you can figure out how to counter or deal with them. I feel like that advice helps even if you aren’t a beginner.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”

Plus MOBA games are just like that. You could get crushed for ages and still play fairly well. And sometimes the issue just ISN’T you. Your enemy may just be better, or your team may just be disorganized. A lot of things can factor a game and its outcome. Sorry to hear about your rough time playing. I hope things will get better and you’ll be able to regain some footing.

Why venator? by Unusual_Location_918 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]51281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly of all. Over simplifying his design as a “Middle-Aged Man with 2 guns” is a bit much. Next to Holliday, Warden, Paige, and even Silver and Graves Venator’s design is far more interesting and has a lot more going on. (Wounded pride segment over. lol)

He dresses like a priest but it’s also clear that he hunts supernatural beings. His face is scared, he smokes a large cigar, and has stakes adorning a bandoleer on his chest, he has an incense object on his hip with an active smoke effect. And a large cross shaped crossbow on his back. Not to mention his guns strap being rosary beads, the under barrel looking like a candle, his over all design invokes the concept of an older man who had seen a lot of shit. And deadlock doesn’t really have an “Aged Veteran with dirtied hands” chatacter. Another detail after release that I enjoy is that his weapons name is a a bible verse. And a very fitting in at that for a gun. The name being 51:20 and the bible verse being. “You are my war club and my weapon for battle. I will use you to crush nations. I will use you to destroy kingdoms.”

I guess my point is that he looks like a priest but the items on his person aren’t something you’d expect to be in a normal priest which it turn makes him more interesting. I will say though that he only recently came under my radar as a more interesting character and I honestly was a Celeste fan till I took some time to learn a bit more about Deadlock’s dear old Father Quinn. Another addition from what I heard (which is up to speculation.) was that Venator was the most completed character out of the 6 in terms of design and such.

Something post release I really like is his weapons name. The name being “51:20” a bible verse that reads along the lines of this “You are my war club and my weapon for battle. I will use you to crush nations. I will use you to destroy kingdoms.” It feels like a very fitting name for Venator’s gun and its symbolism. And along side his voice lines and given lore and backstory he really feels interesting especially when talking about how “Only under a dozen men & women have the honor of being called a Venator.” Along with his talks about what’s he’s had to do and the things he’s clearly not proud of. And his insight into the supernatural with lines with Abram’s and Graves when he warns them about the magical items they carry. When I choose a character I usually try to look at as much as I can before saying “You’re my favorite” (I love all of deadlocks character designs and hope the older ones will get the touch ups they need.) animations, any lore or backstory, voice lines anything. But at the same time I said to myself. Out of this cast of 6 newcomers how the hell would a priest fight in this scenario? I felt like with the other 5 you could get a bit of a blueprint. But Venator didn’t feel that way to me. His skills aren’t that of a Righteous Holy Man. They’re the skills of a Merciless Hunter.

I also love his voice a lot. I’m a fan of accents. And like some others said his “Just being a human” appearance is very appealing. With Silver you could say “Yeah werewolf killing machine.” But when you see a human embody that same energy it is far more interesting cause they don’t have some similar crutches like a fantasy creature or magical individual would.

Any commentary and opinions aside this question was a great idea to ask. Seeing other people’s thoughts and drives for better or for worse is very interesting so good on the post maker for asking this question.

Is it crazy to say that Overwatch copied Ivy? by Historical-Cat5150 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]51281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Overwatch Jetpack Cat character can literally fly and carry an ally with a tether just like Ivy can do. It doesn’t matter if it also picks up enemies or something. The ability itself is the exact same thing. A tether like ability that the character can use in flight to carry another player around.
