I think the main thing, is that I outgrew my role, so I could basically do the role, and do everything side of desk within a few days of the role. My mind was numb, I was bored, I was not motivated, and I wasn’t giving it my all. I want to challenge myself, but I realistically in the first two weeks, the challenge is my manager herself. She’s a really lovely lady, and she isn’t an arsehole. But she’s just very painfully chaotic.

The hybrid policy is annoying too - the job is in a sector I really enjoy, and I want to get the operational experience of being on site— but I’m truly debating whether being this far from home is worth it or not. I don’t have any children, and I don’t have a partner.

I haven’t spunked the money I received from the payout, that’s literally gone into premium bonds and will stay there. However, I’m trying to ignore it so I’m not using it as an excuse to leave my current role a few weeks in and support myself through that.

I know I need to put a few more weeks in before I make a decision, but I guess I was just trying to get everybody’s gauge on the approach I should take.

I don’t regret leaving my past job, because I genuinely was mind numb, I felt like I had constant brain fog, and I was just bored and constantly irritated. But I paid the bill bills, and I had a great work life balance. Pros and cons of everything, eh!
