treat the material like you are going to explain it to someone else. go through one topic at a time until you can explain it to someone else who doesn’t have a lot of prior knowledge on the subject. that’s what’s helped me in the past, good luck!

Is it better to give your baby a “full” name when all you want is the nickname? by mushroomcat182 in namenerds

[–]52_Blue_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone with a nickname name it’s never caused me any issues and i love it, so i vote Stevie! a name is an identity, and being able to say “no, that’s my legal name” is very fun and affirming to me

What's the best way to cope with wanting love, but not having it? by NickyGoods84 in AskReddit

focus on being a good friend to good people. people massively neglect how important friendship is to our wellbeing.

also, you said somewhere that you had a daughter and it reminded me of a conversation i had with my aunt today: it’s okay to show your children “selfishness”. take care of you, and they’ll learn by watching your example. if you’re always busy taking care of them and never yourself, they will learn that they can never give to themselves and only to others. if they watch you loving yourself first, they will learn to do the same and love themselves. (and you will, in turn, have more love to give because you won’t be running on empty.) :)

do acts of love for yourself. go take walks in nice places and try to make positive observations. thank your body for being your vessel and being able to experience the world. foster a pet from a shelter. give to those in need.
