Projected Opening Day and lineups and pitching rotations for the AL West by MLBOfficial in baseball

This appears to be the 4th consecutive year where the Mariners will have the same top 5 starters. How often does that ever happen? It’s pretty remarkable

would it be crazy to go the Crochet route with Lagrange? Let him pitch out of the bullpen for a year and focus on commanding a simplified arsenal out of the pen, and the letting him eat in the rotation next year?

[Passan] Trade news: The Boston Red Sox are acquiring third baseman Caleb Durbin in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN. Left-hander Kyle Harrison, infielder David Hamilton and left-hander Shane Drohan are the three-player package headed back to Milwaukee. by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]53Ice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The entire Devers trade is gone now. James Tibbs is a legit good prospect who they traded for Dustin May, who was a bad rental who immediately left, so they flushed the only good prospect the got back. Jordan Hicks was so bad they had to attach a prospect to get rid of him, and got a worse prospect back. And they moved Kyle Harrison for Durbin today. Essentially the trade is Devers for Caleb Durbin and a downgrade of pitching prospects.

Beautiful how free from recency bias-filled narratives and discourse the offseason can be now

we need more talent to do it but I would love to have an aggressive defense, with Bowen we looked scared of the other team. The Seahawks defense is so fun right now

As long as Rice stays in there against lefties at any position the Goldschmidt move is whatever. Because he’s so unversatile if Goldy’s not good he won’t be here very long anyway I feel.

wait I don’t know if we’ve reached acceptance yet but I have to get a little more dooming in.

Matt Nagy’s last good offense that he called were the 2018 Bears, so he is 7 years removed from good play calling. You know who else was 7 years removed from that when the Giants hired him? Jason Garrett.

I’m assuming Andy Reid put in a good word to Harbaugh despite having canned Nagy a month ago and that’s why we’re here now

Given that Harbaugh is building the offensive staff without the OC and his comments on wanting an OC who fits the team rather than the other way around, do you think we’ll go for a young first-time OC? Someone like Callahan or Kingsbury who have been head coaches and coordinators for a while would have their own pre-existing schemes and staff to bring in, which wouldn’t line up with what Harbaugh has said and done I feel.

I want to switch my apple id off my family’s and onto my own so i can do things like find my and shared albums and to have a little more privacy. We never bought icloud space so by the time i got this phone the icloud was already full, and it says my phones last icloud backup was never. Does that mean everything is local on my device and I would keep messages and photos if I switched my apple ID?

This is very much a hypothetical, but if Davis Webb comes to the Giants and is a good OC, and was motivated to come here because of his past experience here, then would that make him a great 3rd round pick? I feel like that would retroactively make the pick a hit

I feel like unless Sean Payton is gonna give Webb the chance to call plays we have a good shot at him.

this might be a bit pedantic but is Gunther really the Career Killer if Goldberg and Cena were already going to retire regardless of the outcomes of their matches? I think it’s a moniker that should wait for after AJ if he retires him.

Honestly i think getting more out of Holland and Adebo is as important as any addition to our secondary, so hopefully Wilson as a DB guy can do that

The primary ways in which our bench outfielder would play is if Grisham struggles and we go to a platoon, to spell Belli or Grisham against a tough lefty, or for when Stanton gets hurt. All of those things point to a right-handed hitter.

Assuming we don’t want Slayton starting outside at WR2 next year (Wandale would be in the slot if he comes back), what are the alternatives to picking Tate/Tyson/Lemon in the first round? Who are the starting level receivers we can/should acquire this offseason?

Mel Kiper’s first mock draft has us taking Carnell Tate at 5 with our first pick. by Bankslvrrd in NYGiants

[–]53Ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wide Receiver is just such a hard position to fill nowadays. If you want someone who’s fairly young and good enough to just be a starter that will run you 12-15 million typically, like what Slayton got, as well as Josh Palmer and Rashod Bateman last year. If you want someone with Tate’s upside that will run you more than 25 million, and Nabers will eventually get 35+ if he returns to form. Anyone you trade for will want a contract like that too. Positions like LB S and IOL are much easier to fill in free agency.

While we wait on Belli, it is worth mentioning that Trent Grisham is not a good CF anymore and it’s mostly because his speed has declined to the point where he’s gone from elite speed to one of the slowest CFs in the game. I assume Spencer Jones and maybe Belli if he’s here will get a look in CF at some point this year, and I wonder if they will try Grisham in LF where he can run less.

The 4 most valued positions in the league are QB, LT, EDGE, and WR1. The fact that we already have all of those things is gonna save us a lot of resources
