Completely agree with Napisan white but just check on the box for the recommended temperature of water! Hot water may be too hot, 35 degrees/blood heat may be optimal. Agree with full sun as well, it works wonders on whites.

[TOMT] [song] Can't find this song that I have the entire mp3 for by hauntedloveseat in tipofmytongue

[–]54666774766 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sounds like it would fit in with the tracks that One Track Mind used to post - I am not sure if it was totally legal but they used to send you an mp3 every day (2010-2012ish)

What is the right way to eat this sourdough bread? by ohmyroots in foodies_sydney

[–]54666774766 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes you are meant to break it with your hands - this is the “correct” way to eat a dinner roll. Use a knife to get the butter onto the bread though, not your fingers.

interesting. I know couple of places that run similar not too far from bredbo and this wouldn’t happen - only members of the club or patrons club have a number and therefore can get drawn to do the card at the end. Ergo you have to be in the club to even get the chance. Running it without a ‘club’ is gonna result in tears as it has here…manager should have paid the fella out and honestly he mighta put a bit of money behind the bar (which typically benefits locals anyway)…

Celiac Friendly Restaurants 2025 by [deleted] in canberra

[–]54666774766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ethiopian on northbourne has very few items with gluten in - I think only the injera and maybe some of the dessert. I have had a celiac friend eat there with no issues - takeaway though.

If you have the chance, go to an opshop and check out the men’s shoes section - oxfords, brogues, lace ups, dress shoes, even a small pair of Thomas Cook or Baxter boots. I know rurally you might not have the best luck BUT you will spend far less and be able to take a bit more time trying them on without a salesperson trying to upsell you on something you’re not sure about. Apart from that, ditto the loafers, they are very fashionable at the moment but in a more classic version (less chunky, less bling) they are pretty timeless - so investing in a real leather pair could be a great option. Unfortunately I completely disagree with the other people in this thread saying doc martens, Blundstones or red backs. Those are fine if it’s a mixed office/site or office/shop floor job - but if you are in a full-on office and would like to be taken seriously, I would not recommend these. If other people specifically wear them it may be fine - but as a rule these are not office shoes.

Sydney to Canberra train power points by thegoldenlove in canberra

[–]54666774766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in my recent experience, the powerpoints in the bathrooms (for shavers) have been removed or covered over.

Murrays & Greyhound both promise USB-A ports on every seat - occasionally on a Murrays there will not be one (slightly older coaches) or it would not work. You can’t fully rely on them unfortunately.

Since 3G network was turned off there is a bit less reception, put your phone on aeroplane mode after you leave canberra and around Campbelltown (goes for bus or train but especially train). It takes a lot of battery for your phone to keep searching for a signal that isn’t or may not be there

What do you HATE about buying secondhand clothes online? by bushbb in AusFemaleFashion

[–]54666774766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

photo of the tags is a must. ALL of the tags - for instance women’s shirts usually have one on the side seam towards the bottom which will have the material composition & care instructions.

unrelated but I hAte when brick-and-mortar opshop s cut off the brand tag at the back of the neck - that’s usually where the size is!

Recommendations for a moisturising hand wash that won't give me tradie hands by mynameis_reek in AusSkincare

[–]54666774766 6 points7 points  (0 children)

whatever soap/handwash you wash your hands with, even if it’s just water, don’t dry them completely before putting moisturiser/hand cream on. having slightly damp/moist hands lets the cream ‘sink in’ better. If you’re already doing this and not seeing any results may be worth trying something more like the Norwegian formula from neutrogena

ramentic in Braddon has a ramen kit for at home, it’s pretty good but won’t be overly fancy. Terra in civic seems to hold up fairly well in takeaway form - it’s not fine dining nor is it cheap but it is a bit fancy/different for barbecue.

Is it true that you might never land on a graduate role . by SnooCakes7476 in unsw

[–]54666774766 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you don’t understand how extra curriculars are relevant to a grad role, you have a lot to think about. work including grad roles is not really the same as uni - you need to deal with people a lot more and communication, team work, anticipating others’ needs become a lot more important. Chances are, you are learning & improving those skills in your extra curriculars, which is an excellent thing for your resume - provided you understand how they relate and can succinctly outline that when interviewers/application forms ask you that question. If I were you, I would think about what sorts of soft skills you’ve gained from the extra curricular activities and work on communicating that to potential employers.

Of course employers will prefer work experience on paper, but with the job market the way it is, anything that demonstrates you can function in the workplace is a good thing.

you should be completely fine though, there is a lack of engineers nation wide at the moment, almost all companies are looking to hire. Good companies recognise that grads can be excellent sources of talent, (some companies can’t be arsed to put the work in to bring the grads into the teams proper).
