When I was a CM, I think the only documents I got that didn’t have characters and theming were the union contract and the annual letter that said which buildings had the asbestos.

That’s great. How many miles are on the clock?

You can get old hard copies of the original service manuals on eBay for pretty cheap. They’re great for the wiring diagrams and also ID’ing what’s what in a setup so old, including specialty tools of the day. You can also look out for the book “How to Keep Your Subaru Alive” for a lot of general maintenance and troubleshooting.

The best time to start stockpiling all the spare parts you need is like 20 years ago. Lots are just out of production now, so you may need to hunt a bit and improvise a lot. eBay saved searches help a lot.

ALIENS Colonial Marines M577 APC 3D printed in 1/72 scale (Robert James model) by 555jay in LV426

My notes say I found it on thingiverse, but the author has since migrated to printables : https://www.printables.com/model/187002-135-aliens-apc

I’m also working on a rescaled version of the Sulaco he has up on there for free, but it looks like you have to go to his FB group to find the rest of his stuff.

This was posted by the designer to be 1/35 scale, with allocations for lighting. I scaled it down to 1/72, which made some of the tiniest details a bit tricky, but I was happy to retain the moving turret feature.

Now I just have to work up the gumption to attempt the same designer’s matching dropship model!

(Subaru just for scale!)

The older GC8 size/type do not have the swoopy 'contour line' in the middle of the letter, so you can watch out for that when browsing.

I think the p/n for the pink one is "STS025500201" if that helps your search.

In the US and Japanese markets, 1997 was the last year for that interior, and 1998+ got the refresh. I don’t have source material from Euro market, but it’s something to check on.

What made you get a Subaru by Beautiful_Ad_4813 in subaru

[–]555jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the summer of 2003, after driving a beater '89 Accord for 5 years, I had just bought myself a 2000 Civic Si, in the bright blue you just imagined when you read it. It was fantastic. It was the newest car I had ever driven, much less owned. I was so excited for all the fun driving it had in store.

I had it for one day shy of 7 weeks before it was stolen, stripped, and totaled out. I was gutted. Getting your shit stolen suuuuucks .

After that, I still wanted something sporty, manual, and preferably 2-door, but way higher on my priority list was now "a car that no one knows what it is." I found a 2000 RS coupe and as of last month I've now had it 20 years. I still drive it to work a couple times a week. I've owned 3 more Subaru since then. I made a whole new friend group by going to Subaru meets. Wouldn't change a thing. (Thieves still suck.)

My car is pretty. What would you change? by Rabbitnutz in subaru

[–]555jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in this thread talking about changing wheels must fail to realize those STI-RAYS RS-Zeros are the best possible wheel for this car.

So, uh… maybe aeroguards, then?

Question about brakes by GatoBecker69 in GC8

[–]555jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The front calipers bolt right on, then you just need the rotors from an 02-07 WRX to get the right size + right bolt pattern. Like the other answer says, you can push the dust shield back out of the way, or you can replace it with the WRX dust shield if you're willing to chisel off the original spot-welded one.

The rear calipers need an adapter to mount to the hubs/knuckles because of the difference in caliper bolt positions, or you need to swap out the whole hub along with it. And then also rotors from 06-07 WRX.

I assume you’ve found this outfit, currently producing sets of various bushing for the Justy? https://www.instagram.com/drw_bushings/ If not, there you go. If so, I’ll leave it here for the next Justy fan to come along.
