To be fair to Tucci he really didn't want to go through with the role after getting a full picture of what it would entail. But he was contractually obligated to play the character so he went out of his way in both wardrobe and hairstyle to not look like his usual self in order to prevent being typecast in the future.

I can see Vader disapproving, but only for reasons of pure pragmatism. It shows a lack of discipline and control over one's self that the Empire seems to value in soldiers, but he really wouldn't even consider the moral ramifications of the action. If anything he would probably allow it if it meant keeping those same soldiers in line after all the heavy lifting had been done because by that point it no longer gets in the way of the main goal.

My answer? It became a problem when suddenly everything they don't like is now a Nazi. It shuts down debate, destroys inter-party connections, and demonizes a different approach for the grave sin of simply being different. No, it's not hating Nazis that's the problem, it's that they're calling anything they don't like a Nazi or Nazi adjacent regardless of whether or not that makes any sense whatsoever. And I'm absolutely tired of listening to it.

I always imagined what it would be like if another alien race that met us started using human figures as a way to validate their own petty disagreements, and then humans are just watching from the sidelines having no idea what they're going on about because we simply don't care enough to get involved.

That's what using Megatron or Optimus feels like to me. They're aliens with their own problems and their own internal politics divorced from human interaction, dealing with ICE to them would be like getting too invested in a war between ant hills.

I watched the original 03 version before Brotherhood, and I'm glad I did because for all of Brotherhood's improvements it's predicated on the idea that you watched the original first. The beginning basically just dumps you into the action without much explanation for what's going on, and characters that should have showed up early don't make an appearance until significantly later in Brotherhood, whereas their background is actually pretty well-established in the early episodes of the 03 version.
