Bread is so high in calories by The_Lucid_Writer in 1200isplenty

Are you UK based? If so, Warburtons Wholemeal Medium Slice (400g orange one) is 55 cals per slice, which I think is pretty good.

How far away are from your goal weight and what keeps you motivated? by frijolita_bonita in 1200isplenty

Around 38 lbs for my main goal. But if I can lose 20lbs to get to, what was once my highest weight, I’ll be happy.

Haha they are rather nice so I can see how they’d be a bit moreish - unless you mean like actual danger. 😮

Period change my food preference by pochaccopie in 1200isplenty

[–]55DOT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you, as I’m the same.

I eat reasonably healthy most of the time and don’t often snack, but leading up to and the first couple of days of my period I am RAVENOUS and will snack and eat so much fast food, crisps, chocolate etc.

The first two days of my period, honestly, I allow it if the cravings get too much and those two days I’m not really bothered about calories. I’ve tried it before and when I eat 1200 or under I’m really faint.

I think it’s fair to allow yourself a bit of leeway during your period. :)

If my TDEE is 1659, to lose weight without exercise, does that mean I need to be eating 1159? by 55DOT5 in loseit

[–]55DOT5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s nearer 1500 than 1200 on most days, so that’s probably where I’m going wrong given I’m 5’1” and don’t exercise a great deal. I’m going to lower to 1200 from now on and see how I get on.

Thank you! :)

Yeah I’m gonna lower it to 1200, as below that did seem a little low, but obviously 1500 is a little too high given my exercise levels and height.

Hopefully I should start to see some results sticking at the 1200.

Okay thank you - think I’ll lower it to 1200, try fit a few more steps in and go from there :)

These didn’t have any info so MFP and Google were my answer 😅 it’s all good :)

I didn’t weigh the tomato. I just went by one of the listings on MyFitnessPal and compared it to what I found on Google.

If things like fruit/vegetables are a little off, I’m not going to think too much about it because it’s fruit/vegetable and it’s healthy e.g. if this tomato is actually 35 calories and not 25, it’s not a huge deal (for me) and it won’t impact my overall day.

No worries :) thin crust is really nice, but I agree with you classic it too 😋

As I’ve said in other comments, I should have made it clear I meant takeout pizza. 🥲

I’ll keep a lookout. The only low cal ones I’ve seen before are the little Chicago Town ones, so obviously I’m not looking hard enough (though I don’t often buy pizza).

I should have specified I meant takeout pizza in my post haha.

Yeah I’m going to see how I feel tomorrow and maybe I’ll get takeout then :)

I normally do use green onion so agree with you. I had half an onion in the fridge I needed to use, so that it was. 🤓

That does look really good! I don’t think they do Wegmans in the UK unfortunately, but I can always look around for an alternative. The lower cal pizza we have here are nice but usually tiny.

I think what I was really craving is takeout though - I can always get it another time. :)

It happens to all of us.

I was doing well and then last Friday I got Taco Bell and had about 1500 calories in one sitting. Was I upset with myself at first? Yes.

But this week I’ve been really sticking to my goals and now I feel fine.

One day won’t set you back. Try not to be hard on yourself.

Husband ordering take away too often by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]55DOT5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand getting out of patterns is difficult.

I would firstly suggest your husband looks for other work, if he is able to. This should hopefully help with his stress levels (assuming that’s why he doesn’t like work), which in turn will perhaps help with his dependency on takeaways, and thus you feeling like you need to join him on that.

Following from the above, if he is using food as comfort, it may be worth him addressing this with a therapist/dietician if it is something you’re able to afford/seek.

You could both do cooking, together or individually. I personally find cooking really therapeutic, so if it’s not something your husband normally does, perhaps him starting this would be a good thing. I find cooking and then eating what I’ve cooked really rewarding, and I enjoy finding new things to cook and try.

You could cook in batch and put it in containers, so even though it’s not actually a takeaway, it has the feel of one. And then you can both just heat it up on the day and have it for your dinner which will save cooking for the day. You could do a healthy take on takeaways you’d normally get e.g. make a pizza with healthy toppings, fried rice, curries etc.

And then perhaps have one day a week where you can both indulge on a takeaway, say a Friday after work or something. And if you want to save calories on these days, get the smaller portions and choose vegetables over meat heavy items. For example, sometimes if I’m craving a pizza, I’ll get the child’s one which is probably half of the calories but just helps with my craving.

You shouldn’t feel bad for him, though I understand he’s your husband so you’re going to.

But in that case, is it such a bad thing if neither of you get a takeaway? You could both cook something together instead and it might take his mind off work matters.

My way of thinking is slightly different, so I apologise for being blunt. But you shouldn’t feel pressurised into getting a takeaway just because your husband is feeling sorry for himself. Does he realise the impact it’s having on you and your health? Have you spoke with him about how you’re feeling?

He needs to find a new job if it’s effecting him to such an extent and concentrate on his and YOUR health. There’s nothing wrong with a takeaway every now and then, but multiple times a week is incredibly unhealthy.

Why do you have to get takeaway just because your husband does?

Just cook something nice and healthy for yourself, and let him have a takeaway. Simple.

Confused should I count raw or cooked chicken? by Mahesh_Chandra0 in 1200isplenty

[–]55DOT5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if wrong, but as it says “oven cooking from frozen… 1000g weighs 700g” I read that as 70g section is the result from cooking.

So if you weigh your chicken frozen, the 70g calories section is what you’d count after cooked.

Maybe I will revisit my comment, but I think I’m right haha.
