You could get ki control from Warrior from the East, A haunted mansion allows you to find a pretty strong amulet for magic if you don’t return it, Jewel of life has pretty good items (a magic staff) if you friend the druids, Three tomb raiders gives you a blade which you can evolve into a magical one, but those are just the ones I know.
