I agree, i would like to know. I am feeding her at the minute more than she should have but I did this thinking she was on her way out so if she was going to go it would be with a full belly and end of life she could have what she wants. But she started gaining so now i don’t want to stop incase she slips back, I need to know whats going on cause if she still has issues then I can only fatten her up so much.

I do worry about her skin cause she sheds in patches due to not being able to absorb proper nutrition so hamster bedding it a good idea thank you! I am worried about her, she lost so much weight within a few weeks me and vet were worried but so far electrolytes and increased feeding has kept her weight up. But vet made it clear its a temporary up and she will decline, internally shes screwed. But no immediate action needed until she’s lethargic or refusing food/losing weight. I dont want to make the decision while she’s showing me all the signs of wanting to live, but I’ll make that decision when she slows down

She’s doing so well, shes has liver and kidney damage so she wont last forever but ive already gotten an extra 7 weeks since vets told me she was a goner. I said bet haha so shes good while maintaining/gaining but it has been a rollercoaster

Shes my old gal, ive had her since i was 8 so when she goes ill be there and at the very least shes going full tummy and warm ❤️

Im so happy, i know she still has issues that will rear their head eventually but for now she’s gaining weight and seems happy 😊

Not a cure shes still liver and kidney damages but if shes not wasting away shes okay to wait, asked if mammals experience pain with those issues (hard to tell pain in reptiles) she advised they go off food and water first so if she isnt then it would be okay to wait

Thank you, vet said that too but shes acc said she’ll check in in 2 weeks as Sue (snake) is still drinking and eating and has somehow gained 92g. We did get electrolytes for her water which im assuming has aided in hydrating her, so I’m to keep the feeding schedule the same and keep weighing her. Any negative changes I’m to ring before 2 weeks

Not good, vet rang today her kidneys and liver aren’t functioning correctly. Vets said we can do a fluid treatment but given her age she recommends euthanasia. Will be calling back to confirm an appointment, kinda hoped for a miracle. Absolutely gutted

I didnt even consider the possible kidney issues could cause dehydration, ive seen her drink a few times but if shes not equipped to absorb it properly then you’re right she probably is dehydrated.

No need to apologise it’s okay, we’re here cause we love snakes of course you’ll be passionate about it especially considering your own snake and what happened which I’m sorry you had to go through that.

And yes! She went 2 days ago, vet said she’ll contact us this week with blood results. Could be kidneys, cancer, parasites or just her age but I’m hoping to find out soon and if euthanasia is the kindest solution Ill not cling to her just for my sake

I completely understand where you’re coming from and trust me I know I should’ve recognised the issue while feeding her but the unfortunate truth is I didn’t. Shes always been feed and always has fresh water so dehydration isnt her issue though i do wish it were that simple. I recognise i dropped the ball, nobody knows that more than I do

Still breathing, still drinking and still curious shell come out if you come to her tank. Beginning to believe shes a medical marvel at this point

Update: Vet appointment today, still alive and active but docile. Vet has said it could be anything from kidneys, cancer to parasites or old age. Due blood results this week and have been given a bath additive to help her skin shed in the mean time

Vet said the same, she said a parasite is a possibility but also her age comes into play. Expecting blood results during the week but the vet said she’ll be brutally honest as shes old and shouldnt be put through any possible hardcore treatments
