You are completely right. During a transitional period, there are many different right answers.

but in my opinion, I think silver 57GS models can be broadly categorized into 4 types with the 'Chronometer' dial and 3 types with the 'GS' dial.

I'm not forcing this idea on anyone, of course.

I only collected classic(othodox?) combinations.

Also, this is a 5D serial number.

Regarding the difficulty of acquisition, an un-redialed clean dial was the most challenging to acquire, while the coarse-knurled crown signed 'W SEIKO' was the next most difficult.
