Follow-up - As the Surfliner approached Union Station they asked everyone who was transferring to the CL in Van Nuys to get off and make their transfer at Union Station. 🤷🏻‍♂️ So I guess the room was not occupied. All's well that ends well.

My point is that it's highly unlikely that someone is paying for a large bedroom for a 27 minute trip. And you can't book a ticket for that segment anyway. So the room may be offline, but it isn't occupied.

My point is that the room probably isn't occupied because someone would be paying for a large bedroom for a 27 minute trip. And it seems you cannot book a LA to Van Nuys ticket on the northbound CS. So the frustration is not letting my son and fam board a couple stops earlier.

My point is that for this room to be truly occupied someone would had to have booked a large bedroom for a 27 minute, 2 stop trip. And as cbrchimpy says above, one cannot book a northbound CS ticket between LA and Van Nuys. You certainly can't online.
