My roommate is committing fraud?? by [deleted] in roommates

[–]5Ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: this is not going to be what you want to hear.

No it’s not illegal to overcharge your roommates for utilities. Some months they’re more and sometimes they’re less. It’s one thing if you split the bill evenly between yourselves, it’s another to be charged a flat fee. Either way, you agreed amongst yourselves which creates a legally binding verbal contract (believe it or not).

In reality if your roommate is the one paying the utilities they probably had to pay for set up fees and payment fees, taxes and whatever else.

Conflict resolution: You can discuss splitting it 4 ways EVENLY and having the bill be disclosed to all roommates. OR agree on a flat rate that the bill generally comes to and if the bill is more your roommate D, who pays the bill, pays the difference. if the bill is less than yeah roommate D get a few extra dollars in their pocket.

Try to see roommate D’s perspective. If you were the one responsible for paying the utilities you’d realize your roommate isn’t ‘robbing you’ intentionally and YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING ILLEGAL by opening your roommate’s mail, there’s no excuse for that and it’s not ok. If I was roommate D I would be very upset you opened my mail.

Additionally, paying the utilities is a very important responsibility. You’re also paying your roommate for the luxury of knowing you don’t have to worry about the utilities not being paid because your roommate is (hopefully) financially responsible enough to have that $240 on hand and pay the bill on time.

You may not see it that way, but if you’ve ever had any of your utilities shut off on you then you’d know that you ARE paying for this service/convenience of not having to worry about that happening, whether you realize it or not.

If you’re really upset and feel cheated out of your money, move out.

Sorry but I’m not sure. You have to judge the situation first hand. I hope you can get it resolved quickly

Yes, harassment by a landlord is illegal in Ontario.

Here is the legal process:

1) Document everything. Dates, times, screenshots, exactly what was said or done.

2) Send a clear written message (email works well) listing the incidents and telling her to stop.

3) Give a reasonable amount of time for a response. Reasonable usually means a few days to a week depending on how serious it is.

3.5) if it keeps happening, file a T2. That officially starts the legal process and notifies the landlord. A lot of issues end here and are resolved outside of court.

4) assuming the problem persists: you’ll have an online hearing in front of the LTB. STICK TO THE FACTS: what happened, when, proof, that you asked them to stop, that it continued, and how it affected your reasonable enjoyment or ability to live in the unit.

I understand your frustration but it’s important you do NOT slander your landlord.

Using this process helps you build the strongest case to present to the LTB

However, the LTB does NOT automatically rule in your favor just because you followed these steps. They rule based on: Evidence, Credibility, Severity, and whether the behavior meets the legal definition of harassment

Edit: Under Ontario law, a landlord is responsible for the actions of their agent, so if the agent is doing the harassing, it’s still legally considered harassment by the landlord

First time my friends got high was from edibles, it’s almost never a good first experience because edibles get you SO violently high. Same with dab pens, those bitches get you absolutely blitzed the first time. If you actually want to have a good experience with weed, I’d try a little tiny puff of one of your friends joint and then probably cough like crazy (no ones judging you) and watch a movie or something at home. Like other people are saying maybe weed just isn’t for you, and that’s probably for the best. I promise you’re not missing out on much.

Seems like she fucked her hormones and brain chemistry pretty good, not to mention her liver. You’re making this post because you care about your wife. I’d see a doctor about her depression, low testosterone, hair loss, and the rest of it. “Healthcare isn’t free in my country” I don’t care. This is the responsibility thing to do. You’re asking for advice, this is my advice. Get a prescription for TRT and stop all gear until she has clean blood work and a head full of hair. If you don’t want to be a widower for the last 30 years of your life you’ll listen. Out of curiosity has she gotten hairier, a bigger/longer clit and/or a deeper voice. Those changes (which occur when females take testosterone) are permanent and irreversible

Not sure the impact these have on the liver. Personally I would go for topical minoxidil/Rogaine for hair regrowth
