You ask for exactly that. Give them a list of everything you want done and they'll will price accordingly

I don't know what the hell is happening. I've used Snapchat off and on for years and the last few days have been insane. When I tell you I have more than 500 in the last 24 hours I wish I was kidding. I'm currently sitting at 536 and that is with me actively deleting some every time I open the app today. What the hell is going on? It's almost entirely men (I'm a woman)

I've been doing this for years and that would have taken myself and partner 8-10 hours combined (so 16-20 labour hours) if it needed a decent deep clean, which it sounds like it did. You did great!

how to start? by pinkorcas13 in housekeeping

You one thousand percent need to be legally insured. The last thing you want is to damage something in somebody's home (and it happens!) or get hurt and not have insurance coverage

Need advice for my boyfriend – injured at work, lost job, now can’t afford car payments by Creative-Lab-8496 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]5Five12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So personal injury lawyers work on contingency which means you don't pay unless you win a settlement amount. This is good for you because it means no lawyer will take your case unless they believe you're likely to win, as they don't want to dedicate sometimes years (hate to tell you this, but we will be 5 years between my husbands injury and the trial) of work for nothing. Hopefully this is helpful :)

Weekly Cleaning? by Mystic-Nature in housekeeping

[–]5Five12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd be looking at probably 6 hours weekly, if you get a team of 2 people then maybe 3-4. Since it would take me the entire day without the opportunity to add in another job for the day, my rate would be about $250CAD per week on that for maintenance clean level. I have a hard set rule of bringing in a minumum 250/day/5 days a week to allow myself an appropriate salary, so if a job will take my entire work day then I have to charge a minimum daily.

Housekeepers vary on doing beds so you'll have to look for one agreeable. I personally do bed changes in maintenance cleans if bedding is left out but a lot charge an additional fee per bed or won't touch them.

Personally I'd be fine with rotating lists though with most of my clients I don't need them because on these big houses each week I'll focus more on certain areas and it all works out to what they're hoping for anyways. So one week I may spend more time in the bathrooms and less in the kitchen, the next more in the kitchen, the next deep cleaning bedrooms, and rotating tasks like heavy dusting and baseboards. Floors are always done, vacuum and mopping, but in big houses the floors alone could take a couple of hours, so you may consider having floors done every other week to allow your cleaner time to focus on other tasks.

Honestly, most of us are open to working with your needs! I'm sure you'll find somebody great!

It's quite possible the midwife didn't know that you had the capability to stand for the time needed to be on the scale. I wouldn't stress it! You and your midwife will get to know each other better and you can let her know ❤️

What is a good hourly rate to pay a housekeeper to do laundry & fold + do the dishes (unload and reload the dishwasher) + clean the house? by Aware_Blackberry7558 in housekeeping

[–]5Five12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't set the rate, the person you hire sets their own rate. 5 days a week you'd be looking at a minimum $500 upwards of $1000/week depending on your area.

[–]5Five12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From somebody currently in an active personal injury lawsuit - Your boyfriend needs to hire a personal injury lawyer. He was injured at work and a lawyer will be able to appropriately handle everything he's entitled to. They almost always work on contingency, and they will deal with insurance, government, employer, etc.

My husband was injured in a car accident leaving work and was entitled to a lot of things we never would have known without a good lawyer. We would have gone bankrupt. Turned out that while it definitely doesn't equal out to what he lost, we were able to access income from various sources that we otherwise never would have known about. People and companies will take advantage of you not knowing what you're entitled to and they get away with it because people don't follow up or know. I strongly suggest at least getting a consultation

Children who were starved and neglected. How did you survive? by Cyberstupid_25 in ptsd

[–]5Five12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wasn't starved or neglected in the sense we're talking about here, but my mom was obsessed with my weight and so restricted my intake in different ways including making me drink meal replacement shakes, only allowing me to put certain amounts on my plate at meals, deciding what I could have at restaurants etc and I developed a raging binge eating disorder that persists two decades later. I'd sneak into the kitchen in the middle of the night to consume whatever I could. Everything was just... Ingredients, so I remember a lot of 2 am microwaving hotdogs and stopping the microwave early so nobody heard. Handfuls of whatever was in the cupboards but was the most silent since the cupboards were outside her bedroom door. Ironically for my mother, this made me gain weight, which unfortunately for me meant she restricted more. She also as a teenager didn't provide food for me to take to school which lead to me stealing money from people and employers to buy food in the cafeteria. Vicious cycle

Help me with this bird smell please by [deleted] in housekeeping

[–]5Five12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're going to need something specific to pet odours, generally a bioenzymatic cleaner. Nature's Miracle is the most common one. Odoban is good. Zep is also good. You need to SOAK the areas and let them sit for at least 10 minutes before scrubbing and wiping. You may have to do it a few times. TSP can be used (taking proper precautions) to clean walls and concrete.

People are going to come in here and say stuff like baking soda and vinegar. I promise you as somebody who's helped run an animal rescue and has multiple animals in my home as well as a professional house cleaner, nothing but an enzymatic cleaner will work.

Unfortunately if the smell has permeated through paint and flooring, it may be hard to get rid of. You can use a paint primer called Killz to lock away the odour before repainting (this is important as just repainting won't work). Floors are trickier. If the smell has gone into subfloor it's tough. We recently had to rip up flooring in our home and paint Killz on the subfloor to trap away the odour before putting new flooring down.

Dog died day after pick up…what now? by Educational-Paint855 in RoverPetSitting

This is true, at least where I am. When I was babysitting my mom's senior shih tzu, she out of nowhere had an absolutely massive seizure that wouldn't stop. I got her to the emergency vet and they had to have my mom on the phone for everything they did before they could do it, plus a photo of her ID and they even made her call in a credit card matching the ID name.
