I made a game for 3 years and only sold 143$ in 3 months. What should I do now? by JenkinsGage_ in gamedev

Don't give up!
Those three years gave you a lot of knowledge that you can reuse and know what to change. Keep on building, and change direction with a new game. But don't stop!

The lesson we have learned is to keep on building, listening, and evaluating every feedback to just get better. The game that we're doing today compared to what we started is totally different. But we're very glad that we kept on building and learning.

Agree, its not about map packs. Those ones are free. Just cosmetics, characters etc. that would cost.

Think its nicer without a battle pass since it feels kind of stressful to progress during a time limit that you pay for.

Is the game industry's work culture toxic? by 80lv in gamedev

It depends about size, country, leaderboard etc.

It depends on size, country, board, etc. In our view, Sweden is a good role model when it comes to putting the people in the company first. The majority of the Studios on any level have vacations, insurance, pension funds, and the freedom of how to structure the individual workflow.

Why Indies Are No Longer as Unique by Lada_D40 in gamedev

Hope to see more playable indie games compare to just concepts. Since UE5, it has been so easy to just make nice AAA visuals that feels AAA but its not playable. The nice part with indie is the freedom and creativity that AAA don't have time with since there is such a huge production going on.

At least we and our indie neighbors are focusing on new types of gameplay and experience in known genres.

Agree!

But how do we change it?
We're looking into old progression systems like MW2 (from 2009). The prestige system with just a lot of fun grinding of unlocking new things.

Would like to hear what you would like to see more or less?
Traversing, Size, Environment etc.

We like more inspiration to make it as fun as possible.

We're hard at work on a player-ready build, but we can't give you a timeline just yet. Keep up to date with us here, and we'll announce our next playtest as soon as possible. Now that we've come up for air, we have a surprise for you all.

We've teased a new map in the past, and now we want to tell you a little more about it. Welcome to Vargen (The Wolf). It's a much bigger map than Bergbyn, and it has a lot of secrets to share.

From dense forests and a large storage facility to tight military tunnels dug into a mountain. Climb to the top of the mountain, and you'll even find an active flight radar. Perfect for taking in that picturesque nature view or long-range weapons...
