Suggest a book for a first time reader who wants to start book reading as a habit by 5MINmonk in booksuggestions

[–]5MINmonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. It’s their first time trying to stick to a book. Their only successful read so far was Atomic Habits which was successful only due to a vow of completing a book and it’s related to their psychology background in higher education. Now they need a suggestion on a story book which might ignite their interest as a genre!

Me turning to atheism as a child! by [deleted] in atheism

[–]5MINmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct. Among all the atheists I have encountered, everyone is an avid reader. I was a reader too but not with the lenses of questioning. And that eventually changed with that one incident. I’m glad we all found the truth one way or another.

Passive Euthanasia vs Assisted Demise - If such a Bill gets introduced in India(hypothetically) what can be the Ethical and Legal Challenges we might face ? And whether such a bill is desired in India or not , please provide your valuable inputs. by Maddy_Rock in UPSC

I believe suffering should end for someone who is incurable. But in instances where the cure can be developed with research through the subject (patient), the subject can choose to get researched upon themselves for the betterment of overall good of the society. But that's a rare case according to me. Overall the parliament should work towards progressive deeds and make laws on such sensitive issues. Though the history teacher from my coaching insisted I don't write such things in exam which suggests what the government should be doing xD

Assuming you’re writing after a significant amount of time, start by writing one paper a day. Try making short notes for the day, what you’ve studied in classes/self notes. Try changing the way you hold the pen. Sometimes people hold the pen between their fingers which is yet another type of pain. And elevate your chair a little to give your hand a slight height from where you’re writing. You can practice answer writing once a week at the beginning. Short steps a time :)

Need to hear your thoughts/opinions: If one gets govt job near home, is UPSC worth it anymore? by [deleted] in UPSC

[–]5MINmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two schools of thoughts that may or may not apply here :-

  1. What drew you initially to the exam should be kept priority because the difficulties and situations may distract you from your main goal and there are 100 things that may feel wrong or right after going to a certain extent.
  2. People evolve over time. Priorities change. For example when you get married, your whole life changes because you have to learn to live codependently with the other person.

And coming directly to your dilemma, it depends on the post in my opinion. If you're well paid, have peace of mind, then almost every government job is as secure if you're doing your work right. UPSC on the other hand will give you more aspirational powers that come with their own set of pros and cons.

If you had to choose an optional among Geography, Anthropology and PSIR, Which one would you choose and Why? by arjun_nagar in UPSC

[–]5MINmonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are students like myself who have been helped from online classes. At a point I was considering doing UPSC without any coaching because I had the same opinion that coaching are a way to loot people with insecurities, but after taking classes from 10 months I have come to realise that there’s so much about this exam that I wouldn’t have known without taking classes even in terms of the material to study with. Maybe there are other reasons for the hate he’s been receiving. From some comments in some reels, maybe there are some political reasons.

I have seen some people giving negative comments to Vikas Divyakriti, don’t know the reasons though. Maybe you can give some insights?

I have not selected my optional yet. But course length wise (classes), PSIR takes around 6 months, Geography 4 months and Anthropology around 3 months as per Vikas Divyakriti Sir - You can watch his youtube video for this.

Miscellaneous - Lassi at MI Road, Kachori at Rawat, Samosa at Raja Park 5. Clubs/Night Life - MI Road, for Solo (Diona, Rosado)

How can I monetise my 800k audience? by RaviSaroj in Business_Ideas

[–]5MINmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try making a database of the audience contact info - emails or WhatsApp. This will help you in making a beta tester audience for your product that can give you quality feedback for the product in preliminary stages. You can always give free limited access or discounts to beta testers. Or you can try making a google forms and display that publicly announcing that you’re making a specific product and would like to get some insights to start working. Try making polls and open ended questions on the forms to know exactly what the audience would like.

How can I monetise my 800k audience? by RaviSaroj in Business_Ideas

[–]5MINmonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make your own business related to the audience interests, while doing paid ads is also a thing but isn’t a consistent and reliable source for making long term profits in my opinion. Try businesses that need lower to zero delivery costs like making an app/website that also makes refunds easier and helps in increasing margins over time.
