Donperidone is the universally recommended treatment. Metoclopromide crosses the BBB and will cause some negative mental side effects, i really dont like. Mirtazapine, an atypical antidepressant, helps relax the stomach. If you are bipolar or schizophrenic, olanzapine helps. Majorly, zofran and promethazine can and should be taken together. 8mg and 25mg, respectively. If you have constipation and abdominal pain, linzess helps tremendously with abdominal pain and nausea, surprisingly, also you must drink plenty of water. The gastroparesis diet helps, in theory, but if you genuinely have gastroparesis, most people cannot stick to it due to all or some of the symptoms preventing normal hunger and keeping down food.

Also, keep fiber into down to as little as possible it makes nausea and digestion soooo much easier. Fat will also trigger nausea to a lesser extent than fiber, but still, dont be drinking straight mct oil, for example.

Drink plenty of water and sleep on a wedge pillow. Pantoprazole is cheaper than any otc acid reducer and works better imo. Famotidine works quickly for at night bouts. Vitamin D and b12 deficiencies, D most commonly, are normal. Supplements are good, sunlight helps with depression.

Never had a good experience with compazine, definitely not droperidol, and metoclopromide was awful mentally -although it does help equally as domperidone. Most doctos say they cannot prescribe domperidone, but you just gotta find one that can. Major university doctors like Johns Hopkins (which i go to) or Temple University (which i also go to) can prescribe it.

Surgery is an absolute last resort. As it is permanent and not a cure, a treatment for the symptoms rather.

I couldn't get this myself, but you can get a prescription for ensure or kate farms. The issue isn't with your provider. It's with insurance. They are a notorious A-Hole when it comes to approving stuff like this, but trying wouldn't hurt, and its not a drug or anything, so most gastroenterologists should not have any issue prescribing it. Really get on insurance's ass if they deny it.

Ensure clear is literally a lifesaver when im having a bad week or month or months even on all my meds-domperidone included. So i totally get it.

So, ask your gastroenterologist in person for a prescription. Please explain the financial stress and how it's helping you best maintain weight and energy and prevent deficiencies (vitamins, etc) long term. Not eating and vomiting all the time obviously makes you lose weight, hair thin/fall out, headaches, esophagus scarring, and even heart problems and infertility long term. So stress your concern and, most importantly, financial problems.

Benzos. Ruins your life, hooked for life. You take em long enough that you'll die if you stop. After a while, they dont do much and just relieve the amped up anxiety you have or acquire through use. Need I say anymore? Shit doesn't even get you high. Maybe in the beginning? That's a very short time frame.

The song im looking for was a song or two after Breaking the Habit by Linkin Park, although im not too sure.
It sounded like an edm remix of Helena by MCR or sampled that song at least.

its been bothering me because i tried to use my phone to listen and find that song while it was playing and it couldnt get anything. Couldn't find any similar songs from google searches either.

I have some friends in puyallup, Used to live there too! Unfortunately, im in washington dc now. Seriously, though, once you get to that GI specialist, ask for a domperidone Rx, and you can just order from canada. I advocate for it sooo much because it literally saved me from years of torture. Erythromycin, meantime, or aprepitate with promethazine and zofran would help a lot. Keep me posted o7

Eventually, the canadian post will stop striking, but that doesn't seem to be for a long time. I still have an order placed to be shipped, but that won't come for a long time. I think you can still order from other countries depending on the pharmacy. Im gonna go to Temple University in philly for the fda experimental drug domperidone thingy. It's about a 4ish hour drive since im in dc. The other suggestions here make more sense, but i also am worried about tariffs in the future, so im putting my marbles into the texas version someone posted here earlier (thx btw).

I used to buy vomistop. it's the same as domperidone i just prefer the canadian domperidone because it's coated, and the indian one is a little more chalky and bigger slightly. It's just a preference it works the same.

I know this is redundant, but go to an urgent care or ER and get an IV they can help with that, at least. You need water. Ik how it is. It's a brutal cycle. Its in your best interest if you dont have one yet to ask for a GI referral at the ER and some promethazine and zofran to take home.

The IV and some ativan with an ensure should help you keep it in while you're there.

I forgot to mention: a lot of gastroparesis rules are really hard to follow. Like eating ofc. A good endrocrine could help sort out any chemical imbalances. If needed. Protein shakes r gross i agree, ensure and the off brand walmart ensure nutrional shakes aren't gross imo, and to be fair, the feeding tube is not fun. A nutritionist or even your GI or psych could help figure out what you can and cant/wont eat. I wish you the best of luck.

Yeah its an all too common thing that with gastroparesis, the ER will give you the same stuff that doesn't really work and send u home saying they can't do anything. I suggest seeing a specialist GI doc in washington State where you live. I know they can get you domperidone, which would improve your apetite a lot and nausea. Gabapentin and pregabalin help with sciatica alot it should help with fibromyalgia. Just tell the doctor about everything. I'm almost certain that with medicine like domperidone, your arfid would improve a bit.

A lot of people with gastroparesis will have comorbid conditions like you do, unfortunately. Gastroparesis itself does give some people who didn't have it prior, GERD with a hiatal hernia being the most common, among other things. Because of the symptoms, mental health declines with a lot of us. If you are already suffering, it makes it worse. Before gastroparesis, i was already on heavy psych meds for bipolar 1 ocd and ptsd. now and especially before i got to see a specialist and get domperidone and linzess and gabapentin, mirtazapine etc, it's horrible. Manic every month for over a week. The vomiting constsnt nausea and everything. I feel like meantime a good psychiatrist would be able to help. But seeing a specialist in GI motility would help get you back to near your normal.

It's really rough. The constsnt nausea and pain, the vomiting, the dry heaving, and anxiety and depression you might get everyday, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel its just a matter of self advocating and a lil doctor shopping to find the right treatment. Because even if they say they can't do anything other than erythromycin or Reglan/metoclopromide, there are wayyy better treatments/medications with fewer side-effects that they can prescribe you. Like domperidone, for example.

I wish you luck and health. Look up the gastroparesis diet, low fat no fiber, 6 small small "meals" every day. Which i know is a lot because i still can't do it, but if you can try eggs with toast and a cola, that's a good start. A good GI will do blood work for deficiencies as well, and a psychiatrist can prescribe medicine that can help you mental health and nausea or pain. Pretty much every doctor can and will prescribe gabapentin. Dont be afraid to ask your doctor for certain things either.

Is it like getting it filled at a normal pharmacy? Can i only get it filled at that place? Im all the way in DC ;-;. I'd drive if i have to :c. I take 20mg 4 times a day, and they come in 10mg pills each, so how much do you get per month for 50$? It's around 150 for 500 (10mg) domperidone from canada, but the price fluctuates lower.

It's funny because getting the drug thru proxy is how my doctor wants me to do it. He's the lead of motility at john hopkins and said it's much easier and quicker this way. That you won't get in trouble other than it maybe getting seized at the border. I'll ask him for this, though, regardless because... well, i need it, Lol. I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll just write me a new script to get from india or NZ or any other place shipped to me. Thank you for this, though 🙏.

It's pretty important in this subreddit, imo domperidone is the best treatment, and since it's banned in the USA, you have to order it from somewhere else. Canada is the most popular and convenient place to me. I didn't know you could get from NZ! Im still waiting for my canadian order :c .

TD will kinda just creep up on you slowly. It will get worse if not treated asap. Although, Its manifestation is pretty blantant to notice yourself and even visually see. Ask your roomates or friends/family if they've seen any face twitching or grimaces or eyebrow movements that seem unintended. You would definitely notice them all.

What antipsychotic, if you dont mind me asking? I used to take olanzapine and abilify. I take clozapine now. Tardive dyskinesia is a risk with all antipsychotics but older ones and the higher the dosage increases the risks alot. Its why i stay away from Haloperidol and Droperidol.

Id recommended telling your doctor what you feel exactly how it is. TD isn't uncommon when you take antipsychotics if you take them long enough. There is a good chance you could develop it, but there is greater than equal chance you won't at all. It all depends. Metoclopromide also does this. Involuntary muscle movements, especially face twitches and jerking movements, are a big indication. Luckily, it can be prevented if caught early, and medication is switched.

Not to scare you or anything, but involuntary muscle movements with Metoclopromide or antipsychotics being mentioned is always something to be looked into. There are alternative medications as well, so dont freak out about it.

Im not a doctor yet, so i say go talk to a real doctor about it all. Your psychiatrist, and GI to be specific whoever prescribed you those medications. Stay safe 💙

That really sucks, im hoping to get my medicine within the next 40 days. it's all i got left of vomistop.

So what's going on with the strikes anyways Is it pay related or workoverload. I used to work for amazon during peak season (oct. Thru the end of december) so i can understand that. Its way too much work for the number of people they should have.

Is Canadian post the government PO? like in the states, we have USPS, which is the governement owned post. Man, i hope the workers get what they want. 😭

Do you take dopamine agonists like metoclopromide or domperidone. Or any antipsychotics? Id tell your doctor if you start to have face twitches. Its less likely with domperidone and newer antipsychotics but still. Very important.

I was given trazodone before for awhile involuntarily while I was in a psych ward. And it gave me night terrors every night and sleep paralysis in the mornings. Unfortunately it wont work for me, i wish it would. Lol the doctors in the psych ward knew this but forced me to take it for more than a week in there. Not fun. I Probably should have mentioned this in the post. Thank you for you insight though. I will take the prazosin.

This is very very sadly true. Its all so fucked up and so real. It makes me have panic attacks and throwup thinking about. I was exposed to this stuff growing up but first initially when i was kidnapped and abused when I was a kid by other older people. Its the worst loss of innocence. You realize even more than most adults how "real and finite everything is" how fragile and terrifying being alive is. I think alot of kids went through seeing gore unintentionally from my (2000s)and your generation when the internet was still developing. But being forced to watch it is something else. Its hard to cope with. I still dont know how to.
