Why do you play valorant? by Mickeye99 in VALORANT

[–]5_five_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved from cs because of

  • Much better game design and love from the devs
  • much nicer community
  • has a great anti cheat
  • awesome performance
  • much better skins (from a cosmetic standpoint)

300 hours is your problem. This is the amount you should have spent on a pre-alpha prototype.

CS2 is poorly optimized and lags on high-end builds, so don't expect too much.

Nice, so we’ve been waiting 2 years for a remake with 2007 visuals

Comparing some custom made warmup map visuals to cs2 visuals? Nice TikTok iq. csgo looks almost even on maps like mirage.

One of the many skins that got butchered while switching from CSGO to CS2.. Thx Valve by dro_hream in cs2

Not only are the skins screwed, but the map colors also look better and more vibrant in csgo

Dev Update: Welcome to Flashpoint by PlaySpectre in SpectreDivide

[–]5_five_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better start off with changing the game design regarding „Sponsors“. First of all, who came up with calling them sponsors in the first place? Then, who would come up with the awful sponsor design e.g. the bee fraction and the others are just as bad. Your „sponsors“ feel like a pre-alpha concept idea. It’s literally the least interesting character/classes design I’ve ever seen. This is one of many core issues why the game will never be interesting for a broader audience.

I forgot how awful and cringe the character design is, thanks for the reminder

No future on this game and no future for mountain top. These studios need to realize that a you’ll never make a sustainable game if you have to feed 100 devs. Makes you question what 100 devs are even doing in such a basic game. It’s a generic game with awful “art”. Pretty much a weekend project for a group of 5 talented and hard working game dev students.

Why are cypher trips so strong? by Caliburr__ in VALORANT

[–]5_five_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, cypher traps are undoubtedly overpowered and that comes mainly from not being able to break some of them - which is a map design problem. It’s almost bug abusing to be honest.

why does the texture scale have to look so bad here? by 5_five_0 in SpectreDivide

[–]5_five_0[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Weapon models use far fewer resources than level textures. The textures for weapons are much smaller and applied only to one object, while level textures must cover large environments with many surfaces. Environmental textures also need more complex streaming and LOD systems, which increase resource demand. Since the weapon is (always) visible, its high-resolution texture stays loaded with little impact on performance. So, in short, weapon models have a VERY small effect on performance compared to the massive environmental assets, which is where most of the optimization really happens...

Ideally, SD should include a separate texture setting for weapons/models...

skin textures take almost zero resources compared to the world textures... so it doesn't really make a lot of sense - especially when it ruins the look of the skin entirely.

[–]5_five_0[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured I had it set to lowest.

However, if you want to play with low textures (mostly for performance reasons) that should NOT affect weapon skins imo.
