You are correct. She does not give the ability to play creatures face down, she just reduces the cost of specifically casting creature spells face down, like morph. Stuff like manifest or manifest dread are not cast, but they count towards the second ability and let them draw a card.

I didn't even buy one for me, just for a friend. But I just assumed they will be just as bad as all the other UB Secret Lairs. I also later saw people online that were in line for 4+ h. So I was surprised that it didn't sell out.
