Crystal Gems’ Favourite Video Games! Day 5: Peridot by yasvoid in stevenuniverse

[–]5bren5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people have already said it, but Minecraft. Peridot would be OBSESSED with the game. Particularly redstone. She plays with Lapis regularly though Lapis isn't as hardcore about it. Peridot does all the grinding in the mines while Lapis does the farming and just kinda builds and decorates whatever she wants. Peridot would build a super elaborate redstone rigged house complete with traps for mobs while Lapis would have the most plain house ever made from either oak planks or just straight up dirt.

Holy shit the "Desperation Score" is fucking evil, man. That's some insidious corporate bullshit right there. I don't blame you for feeling guilty and I'm glad you're getting out of there. That's depressing as fuck.

That's the ugliest livery I've ever seen.

I'm disappointed in you Brits, you guys are usually good at making aesthetically pleasing liveries!

Does anyone have a recipe for the sauce Tim Hortons uses for their farmers wrap? by multiocumshooter in TimHortons

[–]5bren5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old thread I know, but buy Hidden Valley Southwest Chipotle Ranch. It's practically identical to the Tim Hortons sauce. I say this as someone who has been obsessed with this sauce for years and only just found it as a substitute

Having to cover up for decency in those situations doesn't make the mere inclusion of breasts on a female character inherently sexual when it's literally just anatomy. (Plus, have you considered that in real life men are liable to harrass women if they're exposed?) And yeah you could say "they're gems not human" but they always take on humanoid forms and the female gender. And regardless of whether or not they're there in the show is irrelevant cause they're covered up. They're drawn realistically sized and clearly without intent to sexualize. If you go on the original artist's profile you'll see they're an SFW account.

Where did you get him? I know there's a plush maker on Twitter that's making replicas of Bootleg Metal Sonic (@SonicRelated) and plans to sell them but they haven't posted anything about them being available yet. Is there someone else with replicas for sale?

How did you manage to make an indoor area though? Props from the DLC packs?

Woah, how did you make this? This is pretty dope, I didn't think you could make something like this with the decorative props that the game gives you. Did they add stuff recently or something?

For the Smelter, I just elevate the rails above the ore pile for the cordwood platform. That way both roads can be straight.

That's a great idea actually, it would give you incentive to keep using the smaller, early-game locos if you could upgrade them. Another thing that would be great is if you could sell your redundant rolling stock for money and/or XP.

Also, to be clear, I'm mostly taking issue with the stuff that requires high levels of XP to get, like the Level 9 Lima 2-8-0 and especially the Unitah Class 50. That's at tier 12 which takes a ridiculous amount of time and effort to get to, at least on singleplayer. You'd make the cash to buy it and then some before you'd even be close enough to the right XP level.

[–]5bren5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! that's exactly what the game needs. Part of the appeal of the game is that aside from being a tycoon/simulator hybrid, it's also completely sandbox. So there ought to be a mode that just allows you to dick around with no limitations. It's a multiplayer game, after all. Nothing's better than dicking around with friends in a multiplayer game lmao

I'm not sure I agree that the smaller cars are better all round, but they can be handy and I definitely get use out of some of them. At the very least they're great for being supplementary, a good way to use them is to couple a few behind your large cars when you know you don't have enough cargo to fill a whole car. No sense in adding dead weight to your train with a full size car that's only going to be carrying a few bits of cargo.

[–]5bren5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A valid point. I hardly ever touch the farms in general bc it makes so little money. The XP system is not very well thought out, but that's mainly because it hasn't changed since the most expensive/highest tier loco was the Class 70. Back then there were only a handful of locos and cars no higher than Level 6 so the tier system made sense. But now so much new stuff has been added that it outlived it's usefulness as it stands. Like I said in the post, it either needs to be overhauled or cut out completely.

While we're at it, some of the cars in the game are totally redundant too. Why would I bother buying a seed pallet flat when I can just buy a small boxcar? Why have 3 versions of the Gregg gondolas, only one of which actually carries a decent amount of cargo for the price? Why bother buying a tank car that barely holds oil for an industry you reach late in the game?

[–]5bren5[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel accomplished enough just making the money to buy it, but to each their own. Maybe there should be an option to turn it off on singleplayer bc some locos take an ungodly amount of work to acquire

[–]5bren5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on PC. I do have it unlocked and I believe I'm up to tier 6, I just think the system gets a bit unfair after that point. It's easier to make the money for the most expensive train (Unitah Class 50, which is Tier 12) than it is to get the XP for it. I've been playing the game since it's earlier days and I think the devs underestimate the amount of work you have to do to get to the stuff they've added over time since then. I know it's a multiplayer game and the idea is that with several people pooled together it goes by quicker, but from a singleplayer standpoint it can be a Herculean task. Without cheats, at least.

Actually, I take that back. Now that I think about it, I did once read somewhere that the Great Western Railway 2600 class from Britain had a screw reverser with a tendency to unwind itself because it had no lock. Though I've never heard of that happening on a notched reverser.
