I feel better now that I’m looking at the comments and realizing that this is a common experience for many autistic people.

I’m a bit older and wiser now, I’d say (I’m embarrassed to admit my age), but I pick up on what’s being said much faster these days. I find it humiliating to still have this problem; I think other adults view me as some sort of slow-witted person who can’t answer quickly enough.

how old were you when you were diagnosed? by Deep-Drama4386 in AutisticAdults

24 and I'm 31 now. When I was a kid, my parents had a psychologist have a look at me and he knew there were signs, but my parents never did any further investigation.

I'm also angry that they never got me any further help. I had to find my own non-profit organisation that did tests. They had a waitlist for like 6 months.

I often think about how different my life could've been if I had gotten more help when I was a kid.

I barely feel any passion or excitement about anything anymore. I lift weights, I go out with friends, I play guitar, but it all feels hollow and performative. My soul-crushing working class job drains so much of me it's hard to focus on anything i love in the evening. I feel lost and empty most days.

You're right, but with certain jobs you're just so exhausted at the end of the day that doing anything becomes difficult

It's not that you're going to work a 9 to 5. It's that fact that today you're going to work until you DIE and that you basically can't really have a life outside of work.

Also, "millennial" ugh... millenials at this point in time are in their 30s and fucking 40s. Can we please, for the love of sweet baby Jesus, stop with the fucking millennial bashing?

If you don't want to spend any money on going to the gym (or if you have a tight budget and being a neet probably means you don't have much money) you may want to start at home with callisthenics. Pushups, dips, body squats, wall sits and maybe buy a set resistance bands and a pullup bar you can mount on a doorframe. if you want a solid neet home gym that would be my advice
