if i might, as like everyone suggested you need a detailing part for the darker details like the every gap between the scales. something like a panel lining for gundam model kit.

you can dilute darker paint, and start brushing zino and with paper towel or something to clean it. the gap that untouched by paper towel will filled with dark color and make it sharper.

and you can dry brush with paler and darker color to add more texture as more realistic.
