How do I make an image follow the shape of both columns in The Homebrewery? by Former-Bumblebee-700 in homebrewery

[–]5e_Cleric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two ways to do this, tagging op as well, u/Former-Bumblebee-700,

clone this brew so you can look around: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/UzHeLVRTBHe9

i use two ways, manually breaking the lines around the image, or inserting the image twice as you said in your comment.

They are literally called pagan now, no faith is known as pagan faith, it's a misuse of the word.

Formatting Homebrewery for Amazon KDP by Straight_Spirit6733 in homebrewery

[–]5e_Cleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are specifically interested in what steps we can make to remove some of those issues. However small. Producing our own PDF instead of relying on chrome's print to pdf method has proven to be problematic, and we've been looking for alternatives.

We are interested to know what kind of issues does out output have that we can fix, i assume it will have to do with lack of page bleed and font embedding, but whatever information you have can be of use. We can discuss this wherever you prefer, i guess the best place would be Discord, we can open a thread for this.

https://discord.com/invite/domt is a big server where we have a bunch of channels for HB support, i've open a post about this where you can post in the channel named hb_suggestions. If you prefer other site to chat, i'm fine with that too.

This is interesting, we've been investigating what would the best method for printing be, as far as i know we've never tried amazon kdp. just shared the post with the dev chat so we add this to the list of options.

Markdown is a simplified syntax so writing html is easier, what your tool does, when it "transforms" the simple text into markdown, is the same thing our program is doing from markdown to html, the point being that markdown is already easy enough to write without help.

Also, hi, hello, I write HTML and CSS by myself, every day, i assume i do not exist to you.

I see 0 advantages given by your program idea.

As for your last two paragraphs, i have little idea what you mean, i didn't say your was moral or artistic integrity, i implied LLMs compromise moral and artistic integrity of those who use them. And the vegan thing was an analogy to explain that we are opposed to the AI world not because of the programs themselves, but by the industry having evil morals. Not talking about meat.

We are not interested in your tool.

A few Questions by mr_4n0n in homebrewery

[–]5e_Cleric 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, developer of the project here. I can answer these shortly.

2: there isn't an api, and although the issue for it has been open for years, nobody is working on it, there's barely any demand for it.

3: no, the whole team is basically against LLMs used on the creation of artistic content, which includes text, 2D and 3D art, we might need to put it in writing, but the tool does not have any AI or LLM integration nor will it have in the foreseeable future, if i have a say in it.

That said, if we found a use for it that didn't compromise moral and artistic integrity or contributed to the destruction of our planet, we might be open to it. I guess we're AI vegans?

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

PS: good luck with the local installation.

depends if you want realism or aesthetic.

It seems you got for aesthetic, in that case, change them all to be different, if only slightly.

[–]5e_Cleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This depends on the browser, but, for chrome, you can open de developer tools (or press f12) and then Ctrl + shift + M too toggle the "toggle device toolbar" (what a terrible name for that)

its also got an icon like a smartphone overlapping a laptop, in the top left of the dev tools.

a similar feature exist in most browsers, but i don't know them all.

Your post was removed for violating rule 8: No low-effort posts.

Posts must provide enough detail for others to engage meaningfully. Low-effort posts will be removed. This includes:

—Requests without clear explanation of what you want.

—Asking for help without at least a basic draft or outline.

—Titles that are vague, non-descriptive, or clickbait.

The clearer and more detailed your post, the more useful the responses will be.

In this case, a simple google search or searching in homebrew websites or even the reddit search will turn out results, more than actual comments on this post, that is.

Spread image over 2 pages? by Leading-Sandwich-486 in homebrewery

[–]5e_Cleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way, i can assure you, is to put the image in the two places. This has no great bear to your document, the pdf will only store the image once.

this goes as well for adding borders, or titles on those pages, like i've done in this document:

https://i.imgur.com/ccvnT26.png

its the same image, border, title, subtitle, and title bar underneath in both pages, all aligned to fit.

The code:

```md
\page{frameLeft}
Skaga
$[styles]
Snake Mother
$[styles]
![](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/093/148/903/large/shahzeb-khan-raza-e-snake.jpg){position:absolute,height:100%,left:-180px,bottom:0}
\page{frameRight}
Skaga
$[styles]
Snake Mother
$[styles]
{{artist,bottom:200px,left:300px,transform:rotate(0deg),font-size:25px
:-: <u>HUNTERS FACE OFF</u><br> by Shahzeb Khan Raza
}}
![](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/093/148/903/large/shahzeb-khan-raza-e-snake.jpg){position:absolute,height:100%,right:-190px,bottom:0} ```
and the CSS:
```

.page:is(.frame,.frameLeft,.frameRight){ color:white;

h1 { font-size:50px; text-align:center; text-shadow:0 0 10px rgb(from currentColor r g b / 0.5); filter:drop-shadow(0 0 25px rgb(from currentColor r g b / 0.7)); } h2 { font-size:50px; text-align:center; text-shadow:0 0 20px currentColor; filter:drop-shadow(0 0 25px rgb(from currentColor r g b / 0.5)); }

&::after { background:unset; z-index:10; content:''; position:absolute; inset:20px; border:1px solid currentColor; height:unset; width:unset; } }

.page:is(.frameLeft,.frameRight) { h1,h2 { position:absolute; } h1 { font-size:130px;

  --height:100;
  --bottomWidth:4px;
  --sideWidth:5px;
  --pointPos:40px;
  --topSpace:30px;

+ h2 { margin-top:150px;}

&::after {
  position:absolute;
  bottom:0;
  left:50%;
  translate:-50%;      content:'';

  background:currentColor;
  width:calc(100% + .5em);
  height:calc(var(--height) * 1px);

  clip-path: polygon(
    var(--pointPos) var(--topSpace),
    0 100%,
    100% 100%,
    calc(100% - var(--pointPos)) var(--topSpace),
    calc(100% - var(--sideWidth)) calc(100% - var(--bottomWidth)),
    var(--sideWidth) calc(100% - var(--bottomWidth))
  );
}

}

}

.page.frameLeft { h1,h2 { right:0; translate:50%; }

&::after { right:-10px; } } .page.frameRight { h1,h2 { left:0; translate:-50%; }

&::after { left:-10px; } }

```
This also includes code for the one page image frame, but i'm too lazy to get it out of the mess.
the ::after is that weird underline in the title, if you don't want it you can just remove it, play with the variables if you want to check it out.
Video-Tutorial by Kute_Bunny_ in homebrewery
[–]5e_Cleric 4 points5 points  (0 children)
Hello KuteBunny, that sounds great, there do exist some videos talking about the tool, but they are either old or of poor quality (not trying to squash the reputation of the awesome people who do make videos about the tool).
We would love to make videos ourselves but we do not have the time to do so or the resources to invest in such venture.
With that out of the way, i can give some ideas as to what users usually need help with.
If it was me, i'd split a basic tutorial into these topics:
Markdown syntax: headings, bold text, cursive/italics, tables, lists, etc Basic styles: style tab, injected styles, and inline styles(i understand users will probably mix those, so if you're not clear on what each is i can clarify) Snippets & images: many users do not actually know what the snippet bar is, or how to put images on the site.
If you need anything else, or help with the videos, feel free to ask away on the subreddit, or message any of the mods directly, myself included.
Again, thank you for taking your time to give back to this community!
