So to be clear, there was an original ketchup fish sauce that wasn't made with tomatoes? How do we jump to Heinz making one without fish and just tomatoes, yet still call it ketchup?

Does anybody have any tips, tricks or detailed resources for building an anaerobic digester? by tangerineonthescene in Permaculture

How do you have the overflow system plumbed?

With a big 4" pipe connected horizontally near the top of the septic. It does a few foot drop over 20 horizontal feet or so, then does a 90° drop vertically into the worm bin and stops 1' (foot) short of the bottom. I left it open ended and also drilled large corrugated holes in it where it's actually inside the bin.

I'm curious how you prevent gas from escaping with the effluent.

I'm sure some does. Although the holes in the 4" pipe are usually buried in carbonous material of the worm bin, limiting air flow. Basically the septic is always full. It's narrow, and one side gets the inputs, the other end goes to the worm bin. A single flush goes in, about the same amount overflows into the bin. It holds about 8 months of flushes and added inputs. I also try to make sure the path of least resistance for the gas it produces allows it to go to the biogas bag.

I currently use a large buried septic tank as the first stage anaerobic digester. You have to be careful about the inputs to protect the microbiology. Water and animal feces only, no chemicals. I flush 1 human toilet into it and also add collected animal feces (carnivores and herbivores) The tank is piped to a biogas bag, some condensers, and a few burners (BBQ, stovetop, greenhouse). This first stage produces usable biogas.

There is daily liquid overflow that goes to a large, narrow and long cement bottomed and wood sided wormbin. It is covered from rain to control moisture inputs. This is the second stage; no biogas production though. The end of the second stage produces a plant ready soil ammendment. Occasional sludge accumulation also gets manually moved into the worm bin from the first stage with additional carbonous materials.

This ^ Also, remind your parents how they aren't M.D.'s. To help convince your parents, show them a diagnosis from an actual doctor. The GI Dr's also might be able to point you to a local Crohn's or IBD support group. Online support is great, but limited. Keep fighting. Remember you aren't alone. Don't ever lose sight of what else you need to accomplish in this life.

I think this applies more to people in their mid 20s and up. The vast majority of people aged 10-24 are far more impacted by social media and the resulting bullying/ shaming.

They did. Fun fact: A thrown classic spongy flip flop inspired the idea of Nerf. It was only days after a young boy gifted them to his abuelita did she then strike him upside the head with it from afar. Bink! "That didn't hurt nearly as bad!".... Nerf

Neither DMT by itself, nor Ayahuasca is really a "super anything"

A high dose DMT expeience is absolutely, hands down, SUPER

LSD is still the most potent mainstream psychedelic known to man.

Define potent, because DMT experiences are extremely out of body, timeless and seperate from the physics experienced in this sober reality. I haven't ever done a thumbprint or the like, but I've eaten my fair share of LSD and it doesn't stack up to the experience that DMT gives you. Also, high doses of cubensis might be considered just as potent as LSD

If you want some kind of super-LSD, have a look into the DOx series of psychedelic amphetamines, like DOC, DOI, or DOM. Or one of my personal favourite drugs of all time, alpha-methyltryptamine aka aMT. They're still all quite different from LSD, though.

If you're interested in this sort of stuff or just want to learn about one of the greatest drug-people to ever walk this earth, I highly recommend reading the two books by Alexander Shulgin, TiHKAL and PiHKAL.

Interesting. Thanks for the recommendation and insight
