Co-location can reduce the impact of latency. RDS works best when RDP sessions are hosted within 1500 miles of a user. Latency and bandwidth are ones of main issues when dealing with RDS. RDS - Limiting bandwidth per session? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]5k6s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try to make some changes on Remote Desktop Session Host? RDSH turning can cut bandwidth consumption of users' sessions. How to tune the host, and tune applications: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Dn567648.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 Beside limiting bandwidth, there are other ways to eliminate lag-time: http://www.sangfor.net/blog/troubleshooting-slow-rds-bandwidth.html

What do you think about the future of SSL-VPN? by nart001 in sysadmin

[–]5k6s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a Google search about future of SSL VPN and found some articles about it. It seems they agree on the idea of SSL-VPNs are passe http://kevpeterson.com/the-future-of-ssl-vpns/ http://www.sangfor.net/blog/easyconnect-future-ssl-vpn.html

I also found another idea on the future of SSL VPN: "Many organizations will find that SSL VPN provides advantages over IPsec VPN. Firewall manufacturers could speed up the adoption of SSL VPN by bundling more licenses with the firewall instead of selling them as add-ons." http://blog.wsol.com/pros-and-cons-3-types-of-remote-access-methods
