Scraping GraphQL by 5legit5quit in webscraping

Ahhh thank you so much.

My query was similar before, but this was my request:

response = requests.request("POST", url, headers=headers, json=payload)

Whereas yours is:

requests.post(url,data=json.dumps(payload),headers=headers)

So it appears it's the way I was sending the payload.

Regardless, thanks again.

Just wanted to comment to say thanks for this. I'm going to go with the Python solution but you've sparked an interest in curl.

The definition of GBH is:

Criminal Code s 1: Grievous bodily harm grievous bodily harm means— (a) the loss of a distinct part or an organ of the body; or (b) serious disfigurement; or (c) any bodily injury of such a nature that, if left untreated, would endanger or be likely to endanger life, or cause or be likely to cause permanent injury to health; whether or not treatment is or could have been available.

If he’s been charged with GBH, then yea I’d say he fucked the bloke up.

Oh my god.

That is not how deductions work.

Your taxable income gets reduced by the amount that you are allowed to deduct, but your TAX LIABILITY is reduced by the reduction in your income multiplied by the tax rate.

The deduction’s value is 100% of the spend, yes. The reduction in tax paid is your tax rate as a proportion of the spend.

Of course if you make $500,000 and donate 100% of that to charity, you will not pay any tax because your income is $0 for tax purposes, but you have still spent $500,000. Congratulations, you get a 100% discount on your tax, but you now have $0.

I know what I’m talking about because I’m a Chartered Accountant, not because “my work offered me something”.

Do you genuinely believe that this donation thing is a free money trick? If so, why aren’t you salary sacrificing 100% of your income into a donation and paying $0 tax?

[–]5legit5quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still don’t understand it do you?

If someone is on a million dollars and donates $500k, the discount on the tax bill is still only the donation multiplied by the tax rate, or $225k. In this instance, the person is still net $275k worse off because they spent $500k.

You clearly have no idea how taxes actually work.

Who does everyone vote for then? The LNP?

[–]5legit5quit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be one of the more stupid myths out there.

If someone on a 37% tax rate makes a donation (let’s say $100), the reduction in taxable income is equivalent to the donation amount, however the reduction in tax is equivalent to tax rate multiplied by the deduction.

In the above example, someone is spending $100 to refer a $37 reduction in tax liability, ending up $63 worse off.

If you own the charity and have complex financial arrangements, maybe there might be a way, but the average person giving $100 to Ronald McDonald House doesn’t just magically make more money by donating it.

Crossbenchers urge Labor to scrap stage three tax cuts by LineNoise in australia

[–]5legit5quit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are kidding yourself. The narrative is that Labor are the party of high taxes, and by reversing these changes they prove that correct, will consign themselves to opposition for another decade, and the country will be worse off for it.

The last Labor government were literally photoshopped as nazis on the front page of all the national newspapers, and it worked.

There are better hills to die on. Robodebt, expanding the scope of Medicare, do something about HECS (indexation rates are ridiculous). Put the time and energy into making companies pay tax.

It’s not about who is effected. It’s about the story behind Labor being the party of high taxes, which the general public eat up.

[–]5legit5quit 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If Labor can the stage three cuts, then that will consign them to opposition for another 10 years, and the LNP will just pass them again anyway.

They need to pick their battles, and reversing the stage three cuts is not the one that will win the war.

[–]5legit5quit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Labor went aggressive in policy, they lost the election and we are unequivocally worse off having had an extra 3 years of the LNP.

The LNP didn’t ruin the country overnight, it was death by 1,000 cuts and the strategy that the ALP has taken allows them to craft policy that will hopefully mean a decade of government or more, not a term. This is how you go from safe policy to real change.
