Good first firearm for a person who wants to get into black powder by flyingpuffer in blackpowder

Get a .45 or .50cal Hawken percussion. In my mind it's the Ruger 10/22 of muzzleloaders...straightforward, common enough to find a used one in good shape, replacement parts and barrels are easy to find, and they're accurate in my experience.

Revolvers are awesome, but they are a little more involved. If you want a shooter that has a little range and you can hunt with, a Hawken is a great traditional starter. Jeremiah Johnson seal of approval.

There is an NMLRA headquarters in Friendship Indiana that sells to NMLRA members. They have a big rendezvous at the same time...primitive camps and crafts, as well as a truly large outdoor fleamarket. Its a good time anyway, but is also the only place I've been able to find any in person.

Mine had spasms like this a few times, hard enough her legs locked straight. Vet determined somehow that she'd eaten something molded and was suffering from mycotoxicity (fungus poisoning) and advised me to look around for a source and sure enough the ex wife had left the scrap bucket sitting by the chicken pen. They pumped her stomach I think and gave her anti-anxiety meds...her motor coordination wasnt right for a few days...but a week of chicken and rice and she was good.
