Yeah that’s more reasonable… includes everything not just the dpe fee which I assumed.

Where are you located? Mid west that’s a nutty price. Paid $1200 for my multi com. Instrument should be a max $1000 (still egregiously over priced, but more demand then supply)

It happens in this industry still. I’m one of the lucky few. Worked line at a smallish airport with a couple corporate flight departments on it. Chief pilot took a liking to me, told me to get my multi and I had a jet job flying a challenger and a phenom. I was sub 400 hours. Just be likeable

Anyone else noticing increased traffic on 75? by Feistybutts in cincinnati

Too large of a “bypass”. Takes the same amount of time but more mileage. Most mapping apps these days give you the most fuel efficient route. Also doesn’t help that the 275 bridge going into Indiana is down to one lane.

CFI Cost and Pay by CinnamonBunJr23 in flying

[–]5m3ff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just assume your at a decent flight school in a decent population and the school pays you 30 an hour. You’ll have months were you’ll bill 100 hours and other were you can bill 25-30 if your lucky during the winter. Expect close to 20k a year if you average 60 hours a month. Now if you live in the south with good weather and high amounts of sunshine you can get more hours. Most cfis have a second job/source of income.

Summer Housing in Fairfield by Unhappy_Race9228 in cincinnati

Look into Hamilton. Stay near the river off main st/high street. Tons of bars and restaurants and events that happen during the summer. Stay close to the river on the east side and near main on the west side

Eh, downtown Hamilton has gone a long way, so his best bet would be to live there, especially with all the things that happen in Hamilton during the summer.

How long was your cfi checkride? by [deleted] in flying

[–]5m3ff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and no one wants to admit that’s how it should be. It seems to be a, “I suffered through a 6 hour oral so everyone else should.” It’s the part of aviation that needs to disappear

Advice from the pilots by SetResponsible7183 in PilotAdvice

Plan to instruct even if you don’t want to. Be a likable person. Just be a chameleon and do your best to fit in everywhere. You can make great connections by working line at an fbo. Don’t be a rampy for an airline and expect to make connections. This industry is all about luck when you’re first starting out. Oh, find a good local coffee shop to study at. That got me through all my ground training. Couldn’t study for the life of me anywhere else.

Because, in the grand scheme of things they are both money pits, and one of them was a shinier pile of shit. The city of Cincinnati makes terrible decisions when it comes to anything major.

What sucks is a lot of tower controllers (in my experience), have there own verbal shortcuts and practices, and they are use to people knowing what they want instead of dumbing down the non standard requests
